Hi there,
I was doing some work on my Sprint RS (early model - to vin 139203) when I noticed a problem with the hose that's connected to the fuel pressure regulator.

For starters the hose is quite badly split. But more alarmingly, while one end is connected to the regulator, the other end is not connected to anything.

So can anyone tell me where the other end is meant to be connected to? Also, I don't know how long the hose has been like this. So will it have caused any damage to any components? Finally, what would be the best sort of hose to use as a replacement?

Thanks in advance for your help

Chris

I would suggest that you take the hose and place it in the nearest trash container and forget about it. The newer Sprints don't have that hose. I'm not sure when that change occurred but on your bike there should be a nipple for it to slide onto the bottom of the air box. It is totally unnecessary for it to be filtered air as it is only to equalize pressure and doesn't go anyware (that is the air doesn't go into something that could get screwed up).

My 03 doesnt have this and if it was connected to the airbox, I agree you can just toss it, but if it did route to the airbox, I would take a stab at finding where it did and taping up the opening.

the opening prolly isnt very big, but will definitely effect the amount of air entering the airbox and treak your mixture a bit.

Hello again

Just a few lines to say thank you for the advice that has been offered.

A closer look at the hose showed that it was not as bad as I first thought - it was just the ends that were badly split. As it was just a simple rubber hose and quite a generous length I simply cut the ends and refitted it.

Sure enough there was a nipple on the bottom of the airbox and I've now connected the hose up to it - thanks for that info.

cheers

Chris
