I use the triumph rear rack for my givi box on my Rs, but I beleive a rentec rack and some others will work as well.

Triumph rack like this :-D Kev

Do you need the box? Spoils the looks but does make it more practical.

So far,I have avoided top boxes as I don't like the look of them and feel that they carry the load too high and too far back. At present, I have a Baglux tank bag, Triumph soft panniers and the Triumph rack. However, in the interests of practicality, I have been thinking about a top box, especially the Givi range. Which type/size do you guys recommend/use?

Don't do it! Do not go there! You have a nice Sports bike. Don't turn it into a tourer. :-D

Thanks for your comments - I won't have it on the bike most of the time but it will be useful occasionally.

Kev - is that a givi box in your photo? where did you get the rack and what did it cost?

I have always used a top box and a tank bag instead of paniers when touring or going on over night rides. My preference due to the ease of taking then off when out for a fang with my mates and no unsightly brackets.

Fitted a Givi Monokey top box (takes 2 full face helmets) to my previous Sprint (2001) by mounting the adapter plate to the Triumph rack (simple things to do just bolt on)

Got a Triumph top box (takes 2 full face helmets) on my current Sprint (2004). Choose the Triumph for the colour match.

The look of your bike is a personal thing, what others think I don't care as long as I have the convienience I need. A top box changing the ride I very much doubt that, it is not a lot weight and a lot lower than when you have a pillion on board. The maximum recommended weight for both Givi or Triumph is 25kg. Most pillions would be annorexic with they weighed that.

You could argue with paniers if you don't keep the weight balanced that would change the ride.

I managed to get a cheap triumph Rack. I would get a Rentech rack as they are easier to fit the plate to but are rate very low for weight (don't use it as a hod for bricks lol...) The box is a givi Simply E450 scooter box with a free mounting plate. Cost about £80 which was good. I used to put the box on when my wife went on the back as she wanted:
a. Something behind her
b. Somewhere to stow her lid to save carrying it around. (Takes two lids BTW)
