I went to install my new PB hugger last night. The steel mounting bracket appears to be very badly misaligned. It is hard up against the tire long before the legs are sitting squarely on their mount points, and the drillings do not even approximate the location of the holes.

Have any of you experienced this, and what was your approach to fixing it? Any input would be appreciated.

Yimm, does your bracket look like this one? - its the best shot I've got of it.

Mine went straight on and fitted just right.Havent heard of any others not fitting.

Either you've got it on wrong way around or they've put the wrong one in the box.

Good luck!

Grant

Thanks, Grant.

Yes. Mine does look like that, but it is badly misalaigned. It looks like it was welded in a wonky fixture. I may just have to work it over with a hammer and vise.

Iceman's review is right on. His setup works great. I, on the otherhand have had a bad experience that I feel I should pass on to you just so you are aware.

I mounted the bracket fine. I noticed if I put the bolt and nut the way they suggested, the bolt would come very close to the tire. So I reversed them and the bolt head is on the tire side and the end sticks out on the top of the hugger. No big deal. Hardly shows. Worked great for awhile.

The big deal was when I put new tires on my bike. These tires have a higher profile and different shape. When I parked the bike and put up the center stand, I inspected the new tires. AAAHHH!!!! A scar right down the right side of the rear tire. The bolt head scraped the new tire!

I've since adjusted the bracket, but I think I'm taking the hugger off in any event. Don't need to be thinking about that at speed.

Just a word of caution to make sure you have clearance!!!

I think I figured out my problem. Doh..................

I'm running a 43 tooth rear sprocket and it pulled the tire froward just enough to foul the hugger. So it's a new chain, new chain link, or old sprocket. Decisions, decisions..........

Hey thanks Grant,
you are a helpful bloke.

I see now the 1050 bracket is quite different to my own Powerbronze hugger.

I also do not have this issue of the bolt touching the tyre even though I am running a 190 on the rear.

It's all so..................................interesting

Yimm,
when fitting the hugger to the frame use dome headed nuts and put them in facing up with the nuts on top. This will hopefully solve any tyre rubbing problems you may have.

Good luck The Tankman
