Hey you guys, I haven't ridden my '06 Sprint since it came back from the shop in December (following a collision with a deer 2 months earlier). Anyway, it's raining so much here in wet, green Oregon that it may be a while before I get my next chance to ride my Blue Angel. I have an adapter that converts the bike's powerlet to a cigarette lighter plug (female). My battery tender has a cig lighter plug (male). Can I just plug them together and I'm good to go or might doing so reverse the polarity or something?

Thanks,
Sparty

I use a BMW accessory jack to 12V auto adapter for my GPS and it works fine. I don't believe it will reverse polarity.

Yeah, it'll work no problem. I used to charge my battery the same way, except that I got a Powerlet adapter for the Battery Tender instead of going through a cigarette adapter. But it's basically the same thing. Reversing the polarity would only be a problem if you had the plus and minus leads within the adapter swapped, and even then the tender would most likely just shut off to prevent damage.

I've been meaning to order one of these Battery Tender adapters. Possibly, I'll need a Garmin adapter, too. Hmm...

not sure if this will help anyone on this post or not but I know bmw uses the same connectors as john deere tractors and unless someone did a mod to my bike (first time triumph owner) my accessory connectors are identical to my bmw connectors (assuming pos and neg are not reversed)
anyway what i'm getting at is if you ever need accserory connectors / battery tender connectors give your local john deere dealer a call because someone told me they are only a few bucks
think bmw oem were like $20
and I assume Triumph oem are marked up alot also

You'll find that the Deere plugs are as expensive as the BMW ones. Those "Green" equipment guys are as "proud" of their stuff as BMW.
