Does the Triumph SS off road can have a baffle in it. Saw in Ride mag the did a comparison test of aftermarket pipes and all had a baffle. yes they look like straight pipes but there was a baffle that robbed about 2-3hp. Has anyone taken their can apart to see or repack it?

The Trumpy off road SS does have a baffle - the same as the CF one . Their is matted fiberglass material behind the baffle. I have had mine on for about 6500km, an it started out being quite - but as the km rolled by the pipe has got nosier. I assume it is at it's loudest point. Not at all offensive in loudness.

Funny thing its sounds loud riding, but not as someone standing on the street. As for rebuilding - no, it is a sealed unit.

No, no NOT! The CF and SSL pipes from Triumph do not have baffles. They are straight through with a stainless steel wool packing. Unlike fiberglass packed pipes, they will never need to be repacked. This is a good thing seeing as they are welded together.

Thanks
That's 1 to 1 for baffle. I called the dealer and yes thy have a baffle. it looks straigth thru but is not there's a cone in there and it can't come out. That's why it's quite compared to other straight thru cans.

Thanks for everyones help

Think we're getting confused with the word "baffle". There IS a perforated straight-through tube inside the can with silencing material wrapped around it.

The is NO plate, cone, anything else to block the straight-through exhaust gas flow. Maybe a better term is a "diverter" inside the perforated tube like you see in factory type silencers.

When I first installed my CF can I thought it would be too loud because of that straight-through flow but surprisingly it is louder but not irritatingly loud.

outside of can followed by insulation then by perforated metal then aprox 8incheslong solid metal near exhaust exit then exhaust flow then 8"solid metal then perforated metal followed by insulation then by outside can metal.

Best diagram i could do with limited tools.
