I don't think I'm alone. The cost was a real shocker!

My bike is about to get it's first 12 month service and have been told it's about £100. What should I expect to pay for the main services? :???:

So how much they charge you? Mine is at Deep South in Hattiesburg Mississippi right now for the 12,000 mi. service. Suppose to cost me around $300.00 for fork oil change, valve adjustment, throttle body sink, synthetic oil change, clean lube and adjust the chain and getting the (warrantee) fuel fittings replaced. I think that's pretty reasonable. :-D

$1,064.00

$600.00 in labor alone.

I did need a new chain so that was an extra $180.00

The thing is, is that I don't have a lot of money. I can't afford an expence like this.

4 qts. of oil is $51.00 up here in DC alone.(Mobil T)

$353.00 in parts alone.

Then charged me extra labor to change fork oil change.

I have the entire break down, just not in front of me. This is not a rip off kind of shop either. They gave me a great deal when I bought the bike. Very good mechanics. At least I don't have to worry about it again until next year. I do about 12k a year. My wife has totally flipped.

That seems really high since the pre-02 models have a much easier time adjusting the valves (shim OVER bucket). The 02 and later have shim UNDER bucket which requires cam removal and more tedious labor.

FWIW, I did about half the service stuff myself (the easy bit) and got charged $475 for:

- valve adj
- throttle balance
- fork oil change
- fork spring change (easy if forks are off for oil change)
- SkyKing master cylinder upgrade install (incl. bleeding brakes)
- steering head bearing adj.

I did the oil, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs myself. Installed new rear pads and the Team Triumph metal fuel fittings at the same time.

$600 for labor. Sounds like 10 hours at $60/hr to me. That's a lot of labor...

I've got the valve cover off mine right now. At 10K everything was in spec, but at 20K I have 3 exhaust valves that are slightly tight. 2 by one thou, 1 by 2 thou.
10 hrs seems like a lot to me. The sprint is much easier to work on than some modern or semi modern bikes.
