were'nt you going to get a dyno test done last weekend?
I'd love to know the RWHP and if the drilled holes in the cans were "leaning" it up too much.

Hi Stevecro,
Yeah but I put about as much faith in the folks that did it as I would in the local street sweeper winning a drag race with a ferrari! First thewy put an HD up on the Dyno, then the dyno broke, then they got it fixed after putting my bike up and down about 5 times, then the dink kept using the kill switch to shut the engine down, then they only took it to 9500 rpm, then they didn't even put the sniffer in the tail pipe, then they grahped it out in hp vs mph and only took it to 105 mph. So in effect what I have is a dyno graph done by a bunch of ill trained monkeys on a questionable piece of equipment saying I have 98 hp at the rear wheel in 3rd gear at 110 mph, that cost me $20 to get. A bit much for a fancy table napkin if you ask me.
Would I do it again? Not at that place and not wiht that bunch of yoyos.

My 02 with Triumph SS pipe and remap put 104 to the rear. Now it was free dyno, don't know what was ft lbs were since they didn't do it but i always heard that they put out about 98 to 99 stock.
FYI you probably gained less then 1 hp for the can mod. This is not a mod that will give even 2 hp speaking from experience. Also some bikes this will cause it to lose hp. look at the write up mcn did with BMW you'll see what I mean

For what it's worth, I had mine on a working dyno with folks that know what they are doing. They run them on the limiter. This was right around the 1000 mile mark so just "legally" run in but not free yet.
They also put mine on right after a guy with a new H/D that had the BIG BORE kit put on and dialed in.
The H/D did 89 H/P with 72 Lbs ft of torque. Corrected.
Mine did 105.7 H/P and 73 Lbs.ft. torque. Corrected
All within the time it took to get one dismounted and the other mounted and warmed up so it was pretty even Steven.
The H/D guy was a little tweaked. Thought I'd make him feel better and said that his bike may be slow but it sure is loud. I don't think he liked that either.
Stock can, tune and all.
Don

My 104 was not corrected so it is hard to tell what actual number was it was warm, humid, above sea level but i have no way of telling the corrected number.

Hi All,
First the dyno run was wrong. How do I know this, easy I have been on two wheels since 12. I am now 48 that's 36 years of riding this or that. The bike di NOT get slower with the pipe, it got noticably faster. Not my imagination but faster roll ons and quicker to the rev limiter.
Now as for the dyno jokers, well first it was an Aprilia dealer and all the folks on Jap bikes or Italian bikes got two charts, the sniffer and were run to the limiter. I got one chart, no sniffer, and I know they didn't hit the limiter because I have banged it enough times to know what it sounds like when it kicks in. Also the kid kept shutting the bike down with the kill switch even though I had told him to use the key. Gee wouldn't you think an Aprilia dealer who sells Futura's with the same ECM as our Sprints would know better wouldn't you?
So what I think it boils dow to is that the first run the kid ran it ALL the way up and something to the effect of "What did you get" dyno operator "About 115". the kid "want to try it again?" dyno operator "Yeah but go easy."
You don't suppose those Italian stalions didn't want to get their over priced little ASSES kicked by the lone British mule do you? That would be pretty embarrassing with about a HUNDRED sport bikers standing around.
So is my ST putting 98 hp at the back wheel, I doubt it.

BTW if Triumph's claim of 118 bhp at the crank is true, then I would be loosing 20 hp in the drive train. This is NOT very likely.

sorry to hear of the frustration! life can be like that!
Let us know when you get a result from a run done by "humans"
be interesting to see what figures the Triumph dealer gets (if he has a dyno)

Hi stevecro,
Oh but I wish he did. I would gladly give $40 to do a REAL dyno run on the ST. You know the rpm vs torque and hp one. Not the 98 hp at 107 (which is the actual number) mph thing. Anyways not frustrated, just smarter. Next time I'll keep my $20 and they can keep their merchandise. To think I almost bought a Futura from them befroe I bought the Sprint. The LORD DOES workj in mysterious ways!
Anayway if and when I get a REAL dyno run I'll gladly post the results here.
Preachp :-D

Motorcyclist mag list the 01 ST at 99hp corrected. I thought yours was a 01. yeah its down on power. i want to have mine done again with corrected numbers. When i had mine done there was an 01
RS that put out 89hp uncorrected so i had 15 hp over him that pretty much makes up for the model yr hp increase and pipe i had
