Fenris,

I feel for you Rat Brother. I'd be fit to be locked up and tied down if it happened to me. Sorry I can't be of much help, but I wish you all the luck and good fortune possible!

Sorry t'hear about your loss. You could try advertising for parts (or the whole 'bike I suppose). Friend of mine was offered parts from his stolen bike. After negotiations he managed to get return of bike for very reasonable cost (give me my bike - you keep your limbs).

Rego was 1AM 337 I had handlebar risers and a triumph luggage rack as well.
There were no other distinguishing features.
At a guess I would say the bike is probably in Sydney or Melbourne by now.
The policeman who took the call was actually amused at the whole thing. He logged it and gave me a reciept number and that was it, they didn't even come out.
He was more concerned that I had moved address recently and not informed the police. Apparently it is an offence if you don't notify the police within 4 weeks of change of address.
I have been in the new place for 3 weeks.
I am guessing someone had their eye on the bike for a while, because I usually locked the bike with a cable through the rear sprocket but I got rolling drunk on monday night and forgot.
The one time it wasn't locked it was taken, so I think someone must have been checking up on it to see when it was a good time to nick it.

Sorry about your bike. Did you have insurance?
One of my brother's dirtbike friends had always had well used bikes. When his youngest son left home, he celebrated by buying himself a new KTM. It was stolen soon after. The cops pretty much laughed at him, as they did you. He made it a personal thing to find his bike. He hadn't sold his KDX yet so he carried it to work in the back of his truck everyday and hit all the semi legal riding areas every afternoon when he got off. One afternoon he found two kids swapping rides on his bike in a sandpit. When I asked him what he did, he said he "physically detained them until the cops arrived". This guy is strong as a bull. I know I'm not hearing the whole story, but I hope he gave 'em something their parents should have long before.
Sometimes the good guys win, but it takes effort.

Recovered

I havn't seen it yet, I hope it is in as good condition as when it was stolen.
It was identified by the police when someone tried to re-register it.
The anticipation is killing me.
Its time for some :-g

Fenris, good for you mate. Hope it's well enough to ride right away (probably will be if they were re-registering it)
Be sure to tell us the news.

Great news Fenris - sometimes you have to have luck on your side - as stevecro says, lets all hope she's in good enough shape to ride.
I dont suppose the cops will give you the name & address of the dipstick that nicked it from you - you could perhaps go round with a couple of mates to thank him & ensure that its the last bike he pinches....

Fenris, I hate to say this (love thy neighbor and all) but I would be a wee bit suspicious of my neighbors if i were you. Keep your eyes open. If someone was keeping their eye on your bike with the intention of stealing it - there's a pretty good chance they lived close enough to drive by every night. They miht even live close enough to know how drunk you were that night it was stolen...
