hi all ,many thanks for the really friendly welcome to the board
well the test ride went perfect on sat as i had the bike for 2 hours or more with the wife on the back and she says its just right for her ,the dealer thought i had got lost but we went through all sorts of roads just to give it a work out. so the result it that i pick it up next sat :-D :-D :-D
one thing that they will do for me is the first service and the book says semi or fully synthetic oil is this correct as i thought this was i bit to early for this kind of oil ???? as i told you but this oil in only after the engine has settled ie 10k any thoughts on this
anyway roll on sat
ride safe and take care where ever you are
cheers jason :-D :-D

Good to hear Jason. What colour did you get and is it an 06 or 07?

Re: the service, conventional wisdom here is definitely non-synthetic for the first service. I think mineral is preferred over semi-synth to help the engine bed in. You'll definitely get some advice on that one here.

Enjoy the new ride, the wait is a***** though isn't it :-)

scoobydoo, I have heard the same as Russ,

My dealer said that the full synth oil should be at 10,000 kilometres not earlier.

He hasn't been wrong yet.

Good luck with your ride

When I picked up my Sprint in 04, I took it for a weekend fang from Melbourne to Sydney (1100klm). On the way back booked it into the Triumph dealership in Wollongong for the first service and oil change. The head mechanic was strongly against Triumph manual recommendation to use semi or full synthetic so early in the life of the engine. He was adament that a mineral oil would allow the engine to lap in better where a synthetic would just polish the surfaces. Took the advice of a guy how had been working on all sorts of bikes for a long long time and went with mineral oil up to the 10k service.

Will I ever know whether it was the right decision probaly not, but tend to go with honest experience than theory.
