Hiya all..

has anyone put saddle bags on the 05 or above sprint.. if so how do you keep em on without having to take the seat off to fit them and take them off each time.... taking the seat off as you know is a real pain!!!!

Ive looked at a ventura rack and hard panniers, n top box.... but the thought process is I am small / short and need the weight low and at the same time if I had hard panniers I probably wont be able to get on the bike..legs to short to get over the panniers

any help will be greatly appreciated

thanks heaps
Jen

I had the saddle bags on mine for 7 months before my wreck, and I don't quite understand what your complaint is.

I loved mine easy on, easy off....

Heres Pics:

I don't really understand the complaint either. I have both a set of Chase Harper "Stealth" bags and a set of Nelson-Rigg "Standard" bags and both fit just fine. I put the straps OVER the seat just like "tattooedredhead" and then attached the fastex buckles to the bike. They stay in place quite well. Here's a pic of my bike with the Nelson-Rigg bags and a Givi trunk, on Deal's Gap: http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/Orde...0104&po=105&c=

Oh and as far as being short goes, I am too. Just step up on the left footpeg when mounting.

cool Guys thanks..
I havent had experience with saddle bags on the sprint and thought you had to take the seat off to put em on and off.. no worries. I see they are a nice set and easy to use.. will get some..
thanks again
cheers Jen..
yeah gotta be confident in stepping up on the peg to mount the bike..

Jen, here's another comment...be careful where you put the rear fastex fasteners if you have a rear luggage rack like a Givi or SWMotec. If you have the fasteners "rearward" then the exhaust will melt the fasteners. Slide them forward so the heat doesn't get to them as badly.

thanks for the SR1..
The only saddlebags Ive seen up here (mind you we are a small town and dont have alot of range)have required mounting by putting a section under the seat.. hence the question as above.. good to see I dont have to do the underseat thing.. plus I was thinking the same the heat from the underseat exhaust might not be so nice on it all..
I have been enlightened to other saddle bags now.. so will give em a go.
cheers
Jen

Im off to sydney the big smoke in a couple of months so might get a chance to check some out when im down there
thanks again :-D

Hey Jen,

There are lots of luggage options available for our ST's, soft and hard. I researched this a lot and went with GIVI boxes and SW Motech metal work. It works very well.

Be sure to let us know when youre in Sydney town, I'm sure more than a few of the local RAT members could have their arms twisted for a ride and quiet bevvy.

Brett.
