Does anyone know if the 07 seat will bolt up on an 06?

The reason I ask is that I have read that the 07 seat is designed better in the fact the rider does not slide forward in the saddle like in the 06 design.
I really think it matters depending on the size of the rider. I have a freind who has the exact same bike and doesn't slide forward like I do because he is 6'5" and I am 5'9".

If it wasn't an issue I really don't think Triumph would have changed the design like they have. In one of the brochures I read they were selling that point about the redigned saddle.

and have sat on an 07 many times,

i can not feel a difference.

the 07 has some little side indents
to the seat area, but i still can't feel
any change.

No I'll save that for my sport bike, I should expect that kind of uncomfort from it.

In my post I knew that owners would say that the seat is fine with them, just like the bars, pegs, screen, brakes, lights, you get the point.

What I was asking is if anyone knows what the fit difference is and is it a big enough difference from the 06 -07 to be worth $250.00. There is a change because triumph say's so on their website (sales pitch). I've read somewhere that the seat is curved more upward to keep the rider from sliding foward into the tank.

I do appreciate you reply because you have sat on both, and noticed no difference, I'm just puzzled why Triumph say's there is, and are making an issue of it.
I want a new seat, was hoping for one from "T"

Anyone else ??

Thanks

Great site / good people

num1husker, the 07's are being delivered to folks, but haven't arrived near me either. They should be in stock everywhere very soon and then you could go sit on an 07 and decide. It's difficult to say how a seat and bar arrangement would work for the next guy as even at the same height, there are people that are longer legged, shorter reach, back or shoulder issues, etc.

The new 07 bits are available for retro fit.

Good luck.

I rode an 07 that was at my dealer. It will fit an 05-06. The seat is different but not really better. It was narrowed at the front and was much firmer so it really didn't help sliding forward. It also gave the impression of sitting on the bike rather than in it. After riding it we decided to get the gel seat for the 06 and am happy with it so far.

Thanks a bunch for your replies. My dealer did call me today and told me that the 07 seat is a different part then the 06 seat. How ever the 06 and 07 gel seat are the same part / #.

Now that 86gn has actual experience in the saddle of both of them, it answers my questions and concerns about this issue.

I did find out that the stock 07 seat is almost $100.00 more then the 06/07 gel seat. With very little difference in comfort or fit, looks like I have to keep searching for another alternative.

Thanks all for the help

As an alternative approach you might want to try customising the stock seat yourself. I tend to sit forward and clamp the tank with my knees but still would slide forward into it at times. Tried a Corbin but could not break it in, and being a lightweight it frequently had me bouncing out of the saddle bring back bad memories of my horse riding days. I reformed the foam (took 4 attempts of shave/test ride) using of all things the wife’s callous shaver (it was her idea after sandpaper was not cutting it, so to speak). I now have a personalised profile at the back for cruising mode, an almost level front, rounded and narrower sides for easier ground reach and reversing and best of all, a relief down the middle (copying my bicycle seats). The sensitive parts are no longer compressed no matter my posture, making it one of the most satisfying mods I've made to the bike to date. The vinyl covering is compliant and while I'm sure the seat now looks different to stock, I don’t care; at least it is not apparent the foam has been butchered. I know nothing about upholstery (two local upholsterers refused to do this work, although one of them was happy to glue on more foam - the opposite of what I wanted!), so not saying this it's the best solution (e.g. it’s easy to end up with an asymmetric profile), but for the cost a staple gun it worked for me.

Your dealer is not exactly correct.
The 07 gel seat is different part number: A9701168 while the 06 gel seat is A9701153.

However A9701168 might not be yet available for ordering.

I don't currently own a Sprint but have been considering the purchase of one as a second bike (among others including new Tiger). From the folks I know that ride sprints they seem to all fuss about the stock seat.

Does the gel seat make a huge difference in the comfort of the ride, or changing out the foam a better option?

Want a bike primarily for 2 up riding so the wife has to be comfy.......

If I were unhappy with the seat I'd try modifying it myself. If it didn't work out well I 'd then buy a different seat. That way I "might" not have to spend any money.
