Hello All,

I just pulled the trigger on a 2006 caspian blue sprint st today. It was really between the bmw r1200s, the mv agusta brutale, and the sprint st. In the end the most versatile bike won out....the linear power was very nice and predictable unlike the brutale where it felt like a 2 stroke...no power until 6k and then it was like a light switch..it caught me off guard. The bm was nice but it didn't make any nice noises and I didn't like the telelever front suspension feel on the road...or should I say the lack of feel..but liked the anti dive under hard braking of the design. Anyway the sprint st is it! As far as having it in my possession I wont have it until they perform the recall on the rear drag link. Is there anything I need to know about this bike before I pick it up...as far as starting procedures...it seems to not start right away takes a few turns on and off of the key...is this normal? Let my know all you sprint owners out there :chug:

Congrats Ricster,
I understand the 1050 owners here will say the slow start is normal, there's been a lot of chatter about it.

I have not had that issue here in Queensland on my 955 engined Sprint but the climate is also warm so I don't get real cold weather.

Well except a few months ago in Armadale where it was -5 Celsius one morning on a trip!

What you need to know is you just bought a great all rounder with gobs of character the Beemer doesn't have even though they are very good machines (I don't like them myself).

Yes there is one thing you should know. You bought the fastest color!!!

The starting just requires a bit of patience. Turn the key on before you get on the bike and it'll start right up.

Good choice Ricster! I thought you might have gone for the Brutale as you seemed to have fallen for it! I don't think you'll regret your choice. The caspian blue ST is a ceacker. Enjoy!

Extra Motorcycle: I pray- Street Triple R
<-- Owned a ST throughout a especially cold and rainy winter last year.

The trick is as stated, turn key on wait 10-15seconds, push starter, if no start, wait 5-10 seconds for oil and start again.

the first 10-15 seconds the computer is priming the engine for you, IE NO THROTTLE use while starting.

You have bought yourself the fastest color, caspian blue is scientifically proven to lower drag, something about the hue of blue just allows air to pass over it faster than black, red or silver.

:-D

Thanks guys....I thought I had fallen for the brutale...and I did and will eventually get that bike...but I think its the mistress bike...you know when you want to ride it hard and put it away wet...but the sprint is the wife..reliable and smooth and dependable (regarding the linear power delivery). I just felt when I drove the sprint after back to back runs...it felt like I had been riding her for years..(even though its my first street bike) Today I sign the paperwork...got to love the free bags and im getting that 2.9% deal which is unreal....I got the buck for 10k usd otd is that a good deal? Talk soon guys and thanks for the starting technique :chug:
