Here New Zealand we have changed our traffic lights from the in road strips to one which uses a radar or similar type of detection
the only thing is some lights do not recognize a motorcycle
(not enough mass )
So I either take the chance and slowly run the red or
wait for a car to come along to activate the sequence
I have been in touch with the local traffic dept who have been great in getting the local lights re adjusted ..
but the problem still exists out of my local area
is there anyone who can put me on to a device which
will trigger these sort of traffic signals
N.Z. is about the same size as U.K. but with only 4 million people the roads are fairly quiet GREAT most of the time .
BUT you could wait for quite a while on a night trip at a set of lights
before any one else turns up
:???:

I live in the US and most of the lights in my area detect the vehicle through magnetic flux. Recently, my company moved offices and the light exiting the complex does not pick up my RS. So what I do is wait for the light to cycle, obviously missing my turn, then run it. I figure if a cop stops me, I'll just ask him to let me put my bike back and the light to prove it didn't turn for me. I'm pretty sure that if you're cool about it, so will the cop. Just be careful running it. As for a device, I think they make this heavy magnet that you attach to the bottom of the bike, but I'm not so sure it'll help you.

Do a search for "Green Light Trigger". Inexpensive and supposedly works well. Not sure how much to ship New Zealand, but the product itself is something like $10 USD.
