I bought my centrestand 2nd hand from a wrecker for a third of the new price.

Shouldn't be too hard to find a wrecker with one.

In Australia there is a website for wreckers called findapart.com.au. I put a post on it for the centrestand and got replies from a couple of wreckers, and they posted it to me and it took about 10 mins to fit.

Should be something similar in the States.

Just make sure you get all the parts. 2 sleeves, 2 bolts, stand and spring.

I just bought a center stand myself - I've been riding bikes with shaft drive for a while and this chain maintenance is a pain. The centerstand will help a lot with that. I chose it over the frame stand as it seems easier to use. The bikes I've been riding have also had center stands - in fact I was surprised when this one didn't. Anyway, I just bought the Triumph center stand and hugger. Both just dropped in price so I went for them.

I've also got a topbox. I got the Triumph luggage rack and I bought the topbox from GIVI. It may not look as "pure" as without, but I've still got people commenting on how great the bike looks. And it sure is functional. Especially for a bike without a helmit lock. You can just dump your helmit, gloves and leathers into the box and walk away. So, function over form, I never take it off. Its also nice to have a guaranteed dry place when camping..

Of course, if you need a box you should have one!
And, if you want to show off outside the cafe´one night it cant be all that trouble taking the rack off and reinstall that little nice seat cowl?
The same about the center stand, if you go touring it´s of course a lot more easy to oil the chain every 300 km(186,45 miles). Just remeber to put bike on a level surface using the center stand.
Myself I have a small aluminium sheet in my pocket to put under the side stand when parking on soft asphalt.

Actually the rack is a royal pain in the butt to take on or off... so I just modified the cowl... now I can have the stock seat with the cowl or the corbin seat without, depending on the look I want... but the rack always stays on... see my pics for cowl mods...

wait a second... I though about this a little more... the rack probably wouldn't be a big deal to remove... it'a all the brackets needed that make the initial installation bad... but I still don't like to mess with it and I've already modified my cowl when I had the grab rail installed...

Price dictating I've got the paddock stand instead of the centre stand. It's more hassle to use, and the chaing probably don't get oiled as frequently as it would with a centrstand. There's also a greater risk of scratching the paint on the swinging arm.

I've got a standard GIVI top box (and rack) bolted onto the triumph rack.Doesn't look the dog's bollocks, but carries a lot of useful stuff. As I do commute ont he bike it's worth it for me, and on day trips you always want to bring stuff - beats a rucksack anytime!!

Just a couple of ideas!

One: Get a Scottoiler and you will wonder why you EVER put up with oiling the chain!

Two: If you really want to oil....then there is a dandy product in SCotland (or England?) ....anyway....it is a smallish metal circle, with rollers. You put it on the ground and roll the rear wheel over it. Then the rear wheel can be spun round! Brilliant and small enough to carry on a long trip for chain adjeustments and lube.

....but the Scottoiler.....makes that chain LAST!

FYI - The manual says to change the oil with the bike on it's sidestand and the position of the drain plug mirrors that. I would recommend getting a centerstand since "you never know" and it's a more stable base in some situations for leaving your bike in a lot or overnight.
