suggestions for throttle lock

Anyone have currently in use a throttle lock on their new Sprint ST's? I have a NEP throttle lock on my previous bike but it won't work on my '06 Sprint ST. I don't want a throttle rocker or cramp buster or even the BreakAway which costs $199! Yikes! Something inexpensive, easy to install, and simple to use. Just enough for those long drones on the freeway if I have to be on one. Suggestions on what, where to buy, and how to install would be greatly appreciated. As again, thanks for all the great help and valuable info thus far.

I use a Throttlemeister for longer rides. Works great, takes no room and looks stock.
Throttlemeister....looked it up and it looks good. Do you have the standard or heavy version? A bit pricey but looks stock. Can it be used on the Triumph factory installed heated grips? And how the heck do you hold the throttle and twist that bar end to lock your speed? Left hand reaches over to the right? Tricky if you ask me.
Thanks for the info.

It's pretty simple, actually. The Throttlemeister basically works by providing friction against the twistgrip. You just have to turn the Throttlemeister to the lock position, and then you can set the throttle wherever you want and it'll just stay there. You can also make small tweaks to your throttle very easily.

It's not as good as full on cruise control, but it works pretty well as long as you're not revving too high.

Hi sodapop,
I've used the ThrottleMeister for a coupla years now, and I'm really happy w it. It did take a little time to get it dialed in as you need to adjust the thing by swapping out a bunch of different thickness washers. Then with a little practice I was able to learn myself to twist it w the last 2 fingers of my right hand while still keeping the throttle in position. It's great for the long trips...a bit pricey though.

have you considered the o ring between the barend weight and the throttle grip?
Ask for a #321 o ring.
the "O" ring I purchased was from Catepillar...not sure of the model number...I did find that number on this board though.

Works like a charm..

I've had a brake-away on mine now for a while. While it's pricey, you get what you pay for. When I need to stab at the front lever, it's off. One motion instead of two, I like that.

Sodapop,

I got the regular Throttlemeister, not the heavy. I got it directly from my dealer who showed me how to install it, and I did it myself. It does take some tweaking to get it right, but not hard. The bar ends for the Sprint looked stock.

I don't have the heated grips so can't speak of that.

I adjust it initially just like STcharlie does, last few right hand fingers. You can still manuever the throttle as necessary up and down in speeds, and I find I have to depending on climbing a hill or downgrade as applicable. Straightaways it's very nice and lets your right hand relax off the the bars when needed.

I liked the look of the Break Away quite a bit, but couldn't find one local. I was in a time crunch, but I'm real happy with the Throttlemeister results on my trip.

Just bought the standard Throttlemeister from my dealer ($113). I'm no mechanic and it took about 20 minutes to install. I was fortunate that I had a small exacto knife to cut out the friction ring (you'll need it)...once that was done...I started with the suggested three washers/two shims...ended up for me the ideal setting was three washers....also peeled the red stripe off. Took it out and felt quite comfortable the first time using it...just tightened it...and turned the throttle to the desired location all with one hand. I'm going on a 5 day trip in June and was wanting the occasional relief...and thought it was the best looking/functioning solution....IMHO
