I'm new to this forum so please excuse if my questions have been posted by others in the past.
I'm planning on buying a 2006 Sprint ST ABS and wanted to get advice from you guys.
1. Price: Dealer posting $2,000 off so sticker price is $9899.
But of course there's those extra fees, freight $495 plus
license and doc. fees. Total cost is $11,254 out the door.
Is this price reasonable? What is a fair price?
2. I want to make sure I get the 2006 with the revised heat
shield and improved saddle bags. How can I be sure?
3. The dealer is telling me the "free" saddlebag promotion
runs out end of 2006. True or dealer pressure tactic?
4. Are there any manufac. recalls and if so should the dealer
take care of them?
BTW. Test road the Sprint & Ducati ST-3 back to back today. No comparison on engine or overall quality. Duc was more flickable but very rickety and cheap feeling.

Well welcome aboard MrBeautiful,

I can only answer one of your questions as I'm an '04 man myself.

Your dealer can look up your Vin number on his computer and tell you exactly what recalls are done or what is required now.

One guy here just posted in the UK you can now look up fro recalls yourself on Triumph's UK site. So I imagine that may be available soon in other parts of the world also.

Recalls should always be at Triumph's expense me thinks.

I'll let the locals with your to be model bring you up to speed on the other stuff.

This is a friendly bunch and there are a lot of guys here with much knowledge about these bikes.

Good luck with your deal they are a great machine.

Davem

I think the saddlebags are standard for 07 now. I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong...

With '07's almost widely in hand, they will make better deals than you have been offered... picked my '06 non-ABS up about a month ago for $9,200 w/pans and the nice % rate OTD. There are service bulletins that probably apply, ask to have those taken care of prior to delivery. Good luck, it's a hoot of a bike

definitely worth shopping around and trying a different stealer. The first thing I always try to get rid of is the shipping and set up fees. Seems a bit ridiculous for them to try and charge you for something they had to ship over here to sell in the first place. Then they want to try and charge you to put a bike together before they sell it to you.

Managed to get those fees dropped when my buddy bought a yammy a year or two ago.

Shopping around is always a good thing. Always best to check to see what kind of reputation the service department has too. Worth buying from a good dealer if the service department are good fellas.

just my 2 cents

$11,254.00

Your bike will be worth $9000 come January 1st 2007

You will be the proud owner of a one year old model.

You will be $2254.00 upside down on it.

Get them to take some off the top.

Good Luck.

Maybe I'm being a little philosophical here, but IMHO does it really matter if you get the bike for the absolute cheapest price? If this is the bike you want and love, and you are comfortable paying whatever you end up paying, who cares if the next guy gets it for $100 less? No one is riding around with the price tag on their bike to know who got the best deal. I'm not suggesting the money isn't important...just that at the end of the day you want to be happy with the bike you purchase, whatever that deal may be. You'll forget about the $100 about 5 minutes into your first ride.

I guess my point is this...figure out how much you want to spend on a bike, and don't go over that amount. If you can get this bike for the amount you're willing to pay, buy it. If you can't, don't.

Thanks to all for the advice.

I'm onboard with shop around a pay the lowest price.
I'm not looking to dicker over $100 but if I can save $500 - $1000 why not.
It always pays to shop around.

I'm having difficulty find a dealer that will deal.
I hear these great prices on the east or west coast but nothing close in Chicago area. I'm not looking for rock bottom price just something in the ball park of what I've seen on your threads.

Thought I had an 06 Non - ABS for $9700 out the door but dealer backed out.

Now I looking for an 07 and dealers won't move off sticker.

What have you guys paid for an 07 or 06 Sprint ST ABS, OTD ?
Are there any dealers you'd recommend in Illinois, Indiana or Southern Wisconsin?
