Well, I now feel very clever for having totally disassembled, cleaned, regreased (no grease in bearings as far as I could tell), and reassembled mine just last evening.

I have a question for you all. I noticed that there were no spacers on the top-most pivot shaft of the drop link. The drop link slides freely, about 1/2" either way, on the pivot shaft. I understand that it should have some end float, but I would have thought there might at least be some sort of dust cover on the exposed parts of the shaft. Does this make sense?

Am I missing something, or is it just not very well thought out?

Guess I should return the call to my dealer, they left a message on Monday.
It's not going to the shop until the weather's warmer, 4 degrees F this morning.

This is great, after reading all the grief that Russ went through on my last service I had them check the drag link bolt. I don't think they did but they said it looked fine. Now I can get them to fix it and rub it in their faces. They should have listened to me in the first place.

Good on ya Russ.

The dealers here in the UK were notified of this recall on the 1st Dec, however, warranty submissions couldn't be sent until 5th Dec. Parts arrived for our demo & 2 other ST's today, takes about 15 mins to do (depending on vin).
From what I could see after taking the orig parts off it seems like the bolt in question is suffering too much shear stress so Triumph are replacing the bolt, locknut, spacers (redesigned), sleeve (longer) and adding 2 extra hardened washers.
BTW, none of the 3 I done today showed no signs of bending.

Visually maybe not, but I rolled mine out on an engineers flat table and it was slightly bent, and witness marks on it as well from the flexing. First signs of fatigue after 3500 miles mainly two up fully loaded touring ..

I also checked them on a surface plate and all were fine, if the bolt is bent or fractured then the bearings in the drag link also need to be replaced.

Mine is still on the sales floor untill the thaw..

Heat kit is on.

Link TSB fix is next.

675 master just before delivery.. This way nobody thinks STs come with them when they see it on display..

Russ,
got a call from my dealer today, he is waiting on the parts and said they should be in next week. See we even get recalls down here in little old Tassie. Anyway mate thanks for the info in the past and have a safe and happy Christmas.
