well, i can't say if this is going to count as a mod but, here it is.
when you fill up your tank from empty (wait for the idiot light), throw in a bottle of octane boost. yep, the whole thing. i have done it to several of my bikes, some give very noticeable results, others don't. anyway, i don't know if it does anything for performance, but i think it has at least helped the mileage on my last tank.
now the disclaimer. the stuff that they use in the octane boost (tuolene) basically amounts to paint thinner. now, the fuel is used to cool the windings on the fuel pump, and they have a varnish on them. so it is possible you could kill your fuel pump with this stuff. be careful with how much/often you run this stuff.

I would think the FI system would have a tolerance range already set, and a sensor to detect whether it goes over or underpressure. I'd have to look again at wiring, and fuel diagrams to be sure.

I bought mine with heated grips pre installed and yes they work... a lot...
I have no clue which of the two selectable settings fries my hands the most, but I have to constantly switch it on and of to not get to sweaty hands.
I use thin summer motorcycle gloves though...
Has any one tried to mod it by adding some potentiometer to better vary the heat supplied?

only one headlight on with dipped beam?
inside the fairing next to the right hand fork leg is a set of relays. you will see the bottom two slots are empty. one is for the high beam on one light, the other is for the dipped beam on the other.
put in two relays and hey presto, both lights on all the time dipped or full beam :wink:

fitting relays ... if you're not using the factory ones you might find as I did that the bottom one falls out.
In part I think this is because the socket can move backwards and sideways in the box in which it sits. You can avoid this by hooking your finger round the back and pressuring the socket when you push the relay in.
I've now wired the relay tab to the wire bundle nearby too so that if it does fall out I can try again ;-}

i know what you mean Ern, the bracket that holds all the relays onto the frame bends very easily.
it must be made out of what we call "monkey metal", a special alloy that pretends to be strong until you really need it, then magically turns to cheese before your very eyes. what Harley Davidsons are made out of.

Drilling the baffle...why a 1" hole? Just random choice or specific cfm you're after? I'm thinking start smaller...maybe ½" or ¾"? If the sound is still too muffled, go to a larger drill? Also, how 'bout drilling the first baffle first, try it out for power, then drill the second one later if you want?? Just thoughts.

I made a 25mm hole because I used a hole cutter. Once you make a hole this way, it is very difficult to make it larger.
I now have two holes, see image below.
I would like to get through to the next baffle, but can't reach it (yet)!

I had the headlight relay mod done about 2 weeks after I picked up my RS. The difference was amazing (pun: black and white) and all for $25 at a dealer too!! I was unsure as how to go about the mod but was told afterwards that it was that easy. The night riding visibility is greatly improved.
Re the CF can. I was lucky enough to have one already on mine and the difference (in attitude and HP) is impressive. Adds a few ponies have been told. I rode a standard RS which was still great but the CF can gave it a much better note and the extra grunt.
After the to and fro-ing of the FPR I am unsure as whether or not to progress with the mod. Any updates on the sensors in relation to the Date of Manufacture? Will my 03 RS get any benefit? :???:

High octane fuel
Bleed front brakes
TORS and new map
New air filter when available, improve airflow.
1 less tooth on countershaft sproket
Stay fit, trim, loose weight if possible!!!
