Heh All:

When I first started riding two years ago, the first bike I saw (smelt, touched, and fantasized about) was a 2004 Sprint ST; however, I could not afford it so my first bike was a used 2000 Suzuki Katana 750 (which was lots of fun until that Toyota Tundra did an illegal U-turn in front of me, I dropped the bike, and it was totaled). Well, I finally found my dream bike - a 2003 Sprint ST (Silver, with bags).

Question is, I am buying it from a dealer in Florida and need to ship it to California. Is there anything I need to know about shipping? Any specific carriers anyone recommends? Or to avoid?

Your input greatly appreciated.

PS: Is a bike with 11,000 miles too many miles for a 2003? :hammer:

I did the same thing in 02, the company was reccomended by the dealer ( can't rember the name) but was a major mover.
they strapped it on a pallet. loaded it on a semi and shipped it out to me in texas for 500 I belive. not a scratch on it, and they let me keep all the tie downs etc to strap it to the trailer I used to pick the bike up.

I bought it from Haps cycle in Florida

Regulator - thanks for the input. I feel pretty confident about shipping it, but just a little worried until i get it in my hands.

So, how do you like your '01? Will I notice that much of a difference in ride from Katana to Sprint?

And......... what does "Exoriare aliquis nostris ex ossibus ultor" mean?

Last year I shipped a Speed Tripile from Atlanta to California and used Eagle One.(Web Site)

The service was excellent and the best price of any I searched out at $610 incl. total insurance coverage. They will give you a quote on their web site. They only carry motorcycles and the service is door to door.

The mileage you mention is not excessive, my Triple was '02 and had 12,000. You have to have 7500 miles to qualify to bring it into California from out of state due to the lack of CA emissions certificate.

Good luck with your import!

I just used Eagle One Express when purchasing my bike from a member in California. They were the best price and got it up here without a scratch. Very friendly as well. I'd definitely recommend them.
