Hey All, Just a quick question . I have a new '06 ST - just had the 1k service last week. About 2 weeks ago did a ride on a hot day (35 C / 95 F) for about 300km, temp gauge never went above 6 or 7 bar and was mostly on the 5 bar.
When I stopped at the end of the ride and turned the motor off the coolant reservoir started to overflow and discharge onto the ground - via pipe underneath. When it cooled down the level had gone from MAX to 1 inch below MIN in the reservoir.
Topped up coolant and the next day it did the same thing.
Dealer inspected at 1k service and said all was OK ????
Should I be worried , I've never had a bike do this before and this is my 6th bike - Any suggestions or comments appreciated
( took cap off radiator when cool and it was full)

Maybe air in the radiator? There's a bleed screw on the right side of the radiator that should be removed when filling. I think you'll probably need to remove the right side fairing to get to it, but maybe it can be reached through the front. You could try removing the bleed screw with the bike on the center stand and then top off the radiator.

Hi BallaRAT_ST1050,

Or.............. maybe they just over filled it and it's getting down to where it should be.

Havent got any loose or pinched hoses?

If the temp never got above 7 it's probably the overflow doing it's job as the liquid expands under high temps. Just like a car - shouldn't be an issue.

Keep an eye on the overflow reservoir under the left fairing panel (not whole side panel, the one near the dash, just left of the lights), if this is totally empty, top it up to somewhere about 23-40%. It's my understanding the radiator can both blow and suck (technical terms them) from this reservoir.
