Ok no helmet locks on a bike, hmmm just because it has hard bags (which not lal of us use) is no reason not to include helmet locks, so on this topic, has anyone got an aftermarket solution that they like?

I put a Barender lock on my ST. Check out www.barender.com...easy to install...looks good...works just fine except helpmet hangs upside down...very bad if rain or heavy dew moves in...

I have used barenders and the license plate frame helmet locks. both hang upside down actually all helmet locks hangup side down. I recommend either. If someone really wnts your helmet no lock will stop them.

I have a barender lock. I use a half bike cover that keeps the rain from filling my helmet. Pictures are on my album on page 10.

If you look under the seat about mid way there is a cross brace with 2 steel pins pointed down. I use a 1/16" plastic coated steel cable with a loop on each end through the helmet d-ring and hooked to the pin under the seat. Just hook it and lock the seat, no extra keys to deal with.

Hey,

You guys need to take a look at the "Helmet Guardian" which is available thru a number of aftermarket cycle out fits, or from Irv Seavers BMW in Orange county if yer' in the LA area. I just did a quickie search and found over a dozen hits for vendors.

Well made, black powder coated, ez to use, and...it works great with the factory bags. I've hung two helmets w/the bags with no trouble. It is essentially a steel replacement for the normal rear license plate bracket with 2 key lockable latches for the helmet D-rings.

I might suggest securing it with something a bit more secure than the provided 1/4"-20 stainless nut/bolts that come with it.

I used 1/4" aircraft Hi-Locks with jam nuts. If you are'nt familiar with Hi-Locks, they 'look' like a large steel rivet, ie: smooth buttonhead with no apparent way to hold it for a nut install. But, they have a very small hex recess for a small allen wrench in the shank of the bolt/screw. Very strong, very secure...most dim witted yahoos would'nt be smart enough to figure out how they work or how to remove them!!

I was considering the Barenders for quite a while, but I want to reserve the bar ends for a Throttle Miester for those long boring runs on the superslab.

I have the ThrottleMeister on the right side, and the BarEnder on the left side. No problems at all...

Hey Charlie,

I took a peek at your pics and was wondering...now that you've had the 16.5" Cee Bailey on the Sprinter for a while, tell me....Whudda ya' think about it??

Major/minor reduction in noise/turbulence?? Does it cause the bike to get "pushed" around much on windy/blustery days?? What are your overall impressions since the change?? And lastly, how tall are you, does it work well for you??

I've had the factory touring screen on since purchase which has always been noisy and turbulent. Installed the OEM short screen recently hoping to experiment a bit and looking for a little bit of cooler air.

Found the original screen was in fact a lil' quiter, but the windblast on my chest and shoulders tries to blow me back above 80+MPH, whereas the touring screen did'nt.

Been thinking about the 16.5 Cee Bailey since it's inception, thinking this might be the answer????

Lemme know what you think, alright??

Hiya Dan'l!

Check out ST Screen

I'm 5'8"...the biggest problem I had with the Triumph Touring screen was that it flipped the bugs right onto my sight line on my faceshield. With the CB the bugs hit the top of the shield and helmet, so there is an improvement. The CB also dances much less due to it's much thicker construction, which also makes it a tad quieter. No change in getting pushed around by wind. I personally thing it's a bit ugly...but for longer trips it'll definitely perform better. Mine has the Euro cut...I wish I could have seen a nice side view of the standard cut as I think that might look better from the side view... Anyways, I'm doing an extended weekend trip on Vermont back roads (rt 100 over the mountain always get the ticker going) this weekend so the ST is gonna have some fun!!!
