hi, i installed sliders on the weekend, have to take side fairings off to have room to work (looks goood) installing the fairings back on i came up with some problem the left & right fairings left an ugly gap, tried to force it together but didn't work. ( there was a slight gap when started but sims like it got wider :???:

Weird, shouldn't do that.

Check to make sure that all the lips of the fairing slided correctly in place, that no cable or something like that gets jammed in between the fairing and a piece of engine/chassis/support...

If it realllly doesn't fit, seek your dealer to help you out... since you bought the bike new should be handled as a customer service thingy IMHO

good luck

rechecked & everything looks in place, no cables or wires jammed. i will live the bike to warm under the sun and try to readjust it, heard that the fairing is easier to work with when its warm.......heard anything on that????

J2, It sounds like you misaligned one of the fairing holes to a tab. Around the front by the radiator it's easy to do. I'd take the whole thing off and try again.

Easier to work in the sun??? no way, these are high grade sturdy panels....

see Don's advice, something must have slipped when mounting....

don, does your fairing have a gap on that location? if so, how wide? i just cut to size a piece of dark protective vinyl and stick it on that location, it looks nice, no more gap & it adds some protection to the paint too.(similar material to the clear tank guard) spiderT your right no fun working under the hot sun, will enjoy the sun lounging with a couple of 6 packs instead.....

Put the fairings in the freezer and the bike in the oven. It works for wheel bearings. :-D

Hi J2,

I really don't have any gaps either on the fairing sides or at the front below the rad. It takes a little wiggling but fits fine. I don't tighten up the fastners till I get it all fit though.

What happened once to me, I was fiddling with the fairing for hours until I noticed that I had a part of fairing under one of the connecting lip and that one of the metal clips went AWOL!!
Took everything off again, found the clip (after hours searching, tucked behind the dampening foam glued on the inside of the left fairing  ) put everything together and presto...

job done
