I use an o-ring (sorry have to get the # from the kit). It stores on the groove in the bar end weight and when I am on the highway I roll it with the palm of my hand into the grove between the bar end and the grip. It catches the throttle grip enough to hold and when I want it off I can roll it back to the groove with my palm.

It took a little practice to perfect the movement and now and then after it wears a bit it gets too deep between the grip (have to try the next thicker o-ring) but it just makes the throttle return tighter (but still moves) and you just move it with your hand until you get to the next stop. I have also expermented with a tab of wax cord on the oring as a easy way to disengage it. Works pretty good for $.20

I carry a spare on the other bar weight. The only real problem is that I am in FL and the sun drys out the rubber in a short period, I need to look for like a urethane ring.

Anyone else been playing with this version of cruise control? Found a better o-ring?

To answer spidertex question. I have the throttlemeister and Triumph heated grips on mine. The only modification i had to do was to cut some of the grip away from the heating element. They glue it on there. But as I stated in an earlier post, try the Throttle Rocker first.

There are lots of possible solutions to the "throttle hold" issue. It really comes down to "How Much $" and "How are You Going to Use it???"
I had an inexpensive NEP lever-type throttle lock on my old Suzuki, and I loved it. I bit the bullet and put the ThrottleMeister on the ST (I'll admit to being a gadget geek...). It really doesn't work very well for me. Most of my riding is country back-roads, with only a bit of highway when I really need to get somewhere quick. I got real used to flipping the lever, shaking and stretching my hand and then flipping the lever back and continuing...the whole process took only a few seconds. With the ThrottleMeister, the process is not nearly as quick, therefore I can't safely use it as much as I'd like. If you are going to do a bunch of straight line driving, then the ThrottleMeister would work just fine...It truly is a quality part, but when I get some time I'm going to try to fit a cheapo throttle lock on the ST...or try a couple of the "Rubber Band" methods... Hope that helps...

Charlie...

There's an often used Caterpillar O-ring 8M 4991 mentioned in the Tiger forum (I think) and also a number of places on the internet. It's big yellow and ugly - but apparently works very well. I haven't used one or similar, but am interested in feedback from others who have before dropping heavy coin on the TM. Anyone found a good one in black?

Not exactly on topic for the original poster (I have heavy, standard finish - looks great) but Throttlemeister has another advantage for me at least. It's the only "lock" that is inherently adjustable. I find the throttle incredibly sensitive on the Sprint and often put a little resistance on it from the Throttlemeister just to smooth out my rough handling.
