Hey all,
Relatively new lurker, first-time poster here. I've been all over the net looking at various mfr boards.

Verry impressed with the knowledge, passion, and helpfulness I have seen here!

I am looking forward to throwing a leg over the new Tiger 1050 when it arrives, but think it may be a tad tall.

However, I simply love the looks of the Sprint ST!

What has kept it from serious consideration was that I felt the ergonomics were a bit too aggressive when I checked out the 2006.

Now I see that the 07 has new bars for a more upright seating position.

Ok, finally my question to those who have checked out the 07!

Is there much of a difference? Has the seat changed any?

I'm wondering if I can get a fairly accurate sense of what the 07 is like by sitting on the 06 and using some imagination on the bar position.

Whew! Just a tad long-winded aren't I!?

Cheers!

welcome Todd - if you're long winded you'll fit in just fine here

You dont say how tall you are.I'm 6' and others taller than me find the Sprint great. The pegs arent tucked up like on a sport bike and the pillion gets good legroom too.

I have done some 8-9 hour days on it no worries.

I have seen an 07 Sprint but didnt climb aboard. It has a slightly higher screen and taller bars which are mods that a lot of riders do anyway and it looks like it would be fairly comfortable to me.

The seat looks similar with possibly better shape for the pillion - which is one area I think they could improve on my bike. The pillion tends to slide foward too easily when braking or in twisty stuff.

Yes - I think you would get a pretty good idea sitting on an 06 - the 07 just looks a little more relaxed.

You didnt mention the engine - that is its crowning glory - what a honey!

Speaking of drooling here is a photo from one of the first bike racing meets I took my new Sprint to.I wandered over to check it and a small group had gathered to discuss its merits - so I just joined in and took a couple of photos of the proceedings :-D

Good luck with the purchase.

Hey Grant,

Thanks for the input, and sweet pic!

I am 5'9" with a 31-ish" inseam.

Sat on (And fell in love with!) the Speed Triple. Very nice fit for me, but just not practical with no real luggage capability, not to mention the ultra-high pillion pegs.

Not sure when the 07 Tigers and Sprints will be around the northeast, soon I hope!

Thanks again!

Todd

5 foot, nine - the 05-06 will fit you just fine!

The taller windshield won't help you at all, and most folks seem to prefer the stock handlebar height.

You'll also save a bucket of $$ if you buy an 05 or 06. Just make sure you get the bags with the bike. The bag and hardware kit is almost $1000, and it is not easy to install. Not difficult, but it does take a fair amount of work.

Just make sure you have your money in an asbestos wallet when you take one out for a test ride. Your money will catch fire when you hear that triple hit 6 grand!

thats a good point about the piilion pegs on the Speed Triple.I followed one with pillion during a ride recently and the poor pillion was perched up there like a frog - it looked very uncomfortable.

For what its worth..... I ride an '06 and I have added bar risers, (the stock handlebars put a little to much stress on the wrists on a long ride), and also a Corbin seat, (Gunfighter and Lady with pillion backrest), and now the all day ride is seamless..... I sat on the '07, and while the seat is different than my '06, I did not have the luxury of riding it for eight hours so I can't comment on long term comfort however, the new seat seems shaped for ease of putting your feet down at a streetlight...... While this my be important to "height impaired" riders, it is not important to me. What I needed was to increase the horizontal surface contact area of the seat/mybutt area, to improve long distance comfort, which this seat accomplishes completely..... It would be good to have another somewhat local "Rat" around....

Good luck with your decision!

Welcome vtrider,

Don't apologise about being long winded. We all had heaps of questions when we realised how well the Triumph secret has been kept and can't believe it!!

FWIW I have a mate with an 06 Tiger and he loves it but it is a bit too upright for me. I do like the look of the 07 Tigers though.

The Sprints are a great looking bike and (if I was looking) they would be first on my list next to the Speed Triple and the 675 and the Thruxton and the. I'll stop now.

Good luck on your choice.

If you're inclined to save a few bucks the 06 w/GenMar risers is likely to be pretty close to the 07. Some have said the higher bars are an option on the 07 but I don't know that for sure. I'm 5-10/31 inseam. Have the GenMar risers, Gunfighter seat on the Gunfighter/Lady pan (so's you can use the hard bags) and a Laminar Lip. Don't forget to change the front sprocket from 19t to 18t. See, all fixed up! :-D

Hey Todd and welcome. I have an '05 and find the seat to be very comfortable but would like to have the bars a little higher to take the pressure off my wrists also. Sooooo I asked my dealer about adding the new Triumph clip-ons to my '05 and he said no problem as Triumph has the kit for $199.00. Save yourself some money on an '05 or '06 and work the new risers into the deal.

Hey thanks again everyone for your help!

Checked out the 06' and I found it to be a great fit. Seat was perfect height, flat footed in sneaks. Not as sporty a reach to the bars as I had remembered, however I believe the risers would be important to me.

My purchase timeline I think will put me firmly in 07' territory, at least locally.....Plus, if this ends up the bike for me it will have to be the black! :-D

Just wanted to give a quick update.

Cheers!
