fellas.... whats up with the low tech fruity looking bulb at the bottom of the middle light casing?

a friend of mine noticed it.... i never did! now I see it everytime arrrgh.

not sure who dropped the ball on that design decision.

I want to replace mine... with something cheekier... like a hula girl.

Is it your park light?

Does it come on when the key is turn all the way counterclockwise when pushed down to lock the steering?

Someone already posted re this. Apparently it is a law somewhere (England?? Europe??) that when the parking lights are on, a bacl and front light must be illuminated if I remember correctly. Guess this little bulb keeps battery from draining (ie headlights off) although it is 'on' even with the bike running.

The bulb is there to indicate that this is a perfect switched hot wire
to tap for powering your radar detector.

I mean, how else would you know? :lollol:

It's an historical (and perhaps legal) thing. When I used to run around London on my '72 Trident, no one ever switched on their headlamps, as I recall. They used these little parking light things, cars too. It must be a holdover from that.

I'm certain one of our British brethren could, um, shed some light on the question. Anyway, I like'em.

You could replace it with an LED or neon light of your favourite colour - Red of course :-) .

That would give it some tech class

Cool lights, but I wouldn't trick mine out, I think it's a bit wanky. Although the parking light in a nice colour would look good :-)

I already changed my dinky light to a red one...
looks hip -- many people ask what's it for --
I tell them it a rain wiper sensor...
