NOOB here!

Just picked up my RS yesterday. '00 with 5400 miles! Looks new!
I'd like to put some adjustable clip-ons on it like the Two Brothers I had on my '02 Daytona, but TB doesn't list them on their site. What do the taller guys do to the RS's to raise the clip-ons?

Also, the front brake doesn't seem to have much feel, and is more than a little mushy. I assume that is a trait of the model, and not this particular bike. What are my choices?

Third, the mirrors give me no clue as to what is behind me, other than my left elbow. Any after-market mirrors that work?

Thanks!!

you can fit ST handlebars to raise the level. As they are not true Clip ons, that's about it for your options other than bar risers from heli.

do a front brake search. it will leave you with hours of reading !

also, do a mirror search, someone here sells extenders for the stalk.

and:

Welcome to the wonderful world of triumph :brk:

Thanks!

This is my 4th Triumph:

'99 Thunderbird Sport
'97 Tropy 1200
'02 Daytona

I *searched* the forums for *mirrors* and *mirror extenders* and came up blank. I can't seem to narrow the brake search to *front brake RS*. Any clues on how to use the search function?

Also, any idea how taller the ST bars are?
If I go to the ST bars, will I have to replace any cables?

Thanks!!

Olyrider

I also have a 00 RS I almost never ride (odometer reading 3600). As the weather is about to become really nice, I got on it the other day, and as you said, the brakes felt a little mushy. I played around with the adjuster on the brake lever and gave it some good pumps etc. That seemed to help. Still my guess is that the brake fluid is getting old as it is probably the original stuff that came with the bike. I'm going to bleed the brakes this weekend and see where that goes. The maintenance manual says replace brake fluid once a year…
I know that this is not a finite answer but… better than nothing.
Oh I also think that a lot of the break issues on this site are about the new 05-06 STs.

If you just read the first few pages of this forum, you'll see a lot of threads about the front brakes. The issues certainly aren't limited to the '05-'06 bikes.

I've been lucky with mine, but of the 6 people I know with '01 - '04 Sprints, I'm the only one who hasn't had brake issues...yet.

I use Gen-mar bar risers on my rs, I tried the st bars found that they were too high and far back. but it all in what makes you most comfortable :-D

Welcome to the forum,

The extensions were fabricated by someone here on the forum (I think) but IMO they looked a little clunky. The VFR mirrors fit with a little adjustment.

I just pull my arms in!!

I am 6'2" and feel comfortable with the position but it is a personal thing. Your body does get use to the position..

Front brake may just need fluid replacement (as they absorb moisture) and a bleed.

Good luck,, they're a great bike,

Well actually they do. The Two Bros setup uses completely interchangeable parts. So the only difference is you would order fork clamps for a Yamaha R6 with a 43mm tube diameter which is the same size as the RS. Then you just pick which riser and handlebar combination works best for you.

Two Bros Bars

I put SkyKing risers on my '01 RS and made a big difference. Good service and price, just web search them.
