Thanks to everyone who responded to my post on 'Site Suggestions' about Aussie avatars, we now have the choice of the Aussie flag (as used by your truly) and the Eureka flag. I have sent a pm to Shawn to say thanks, if you decide to do the same it would be nice. I`ll post this on the other forums as well, for maximum exposure.

I love the cosmopolitan nature of this forum, and it's great to see the new Aussie avatars. However, please excuse my ignorance; could someone please explain the history and significance of the blue & silver flag as used by kazjim. Thanks, guys.

Jeez now you've done it, gone and started politics :-) .
There's a long history to our Eureka Stockade flag, including linkage to some ex pat North Americans being heavily represented.
Here ya go Dusty, a few links of background info - probably more than you wanted to know :-)
Eureka Flag
Short version
even an offical gov't link

Thanks, Russ. That was really helpful and interesting. I'd heard of a miners' revolt but had no idea of its significance or its flag. This forum is a great learning resource, and not just about Triumphs! :upthumb:
