I ride a 2000 Sprint ST with 14K miles on it now. I took it into the shop the other day and they replaced my front fork seals, fork oil and adjusted the valves.

I spoke to the mechanic for a while and he had noted some points of interest that I should take care of sooner than later; those being Air Filter and Rear Brake Pads.

I've been poking around on the web and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a K&N filter (don't want to start any arguments here). I don't want to start a war on how they let more junk into the engine or that my tune will be all out of whack (tune I can handle with the tuneboy).
I know the PN is TB-9097 for my bike. Unless someone has a vastly superior solution they want to offer?

So the main issue is brake pads. I don't want to get factory, over-priced ones, so what are the other better options? I have been poking around on the web a bit and a lot of places have the RS listed for rears but not the ST, are they the same? If you have brand and part # I'd appreciate it, or if you know a place where I can order everything in one fowl swoop, that'd be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonathan

You can get Gold Fren 002 for $26 or Carbone Lorraine 2298 for $28 I think at SpieglerUSA.com. The Gold Fren seem to be well thought of in Europe. I know EBC makes pads for the RS but I'm not sure where to get them.

I have CL A3+ pads and they are great. I have a K&N too. I changed tunes but because of my CF can, not the air filter and really don't believe you need to change unless you run some dyno tests.

1. Just because the engine is on and the wheels are turning doesn't mean you're "riding".
2. The bike you ride and the farkles you buy have no correlation to how good a rider you are.
3. The ignorant can be enlightened, but the stupid just drive on forever.

I have had could luck with EBC almost 25k milesand still going on the rear replaced the front only because I replaced the rotors with about 15k on them. Put whatever air filter you want. I have K&N in everything. Just watch how much oil you put on it when you clean it.

I reccomend that you disconnect the crankcase breather from the air box. IF you drop the bike on the left side oil could run into the air box and hydro lock no. one cylinder. I bought a breather element for a Ford and installed it on the end on the hose and capped the airbox inlet. I have had it happen to me and it may have caused the engine failure on my Tiger. Since I made the change I had the bike fall over while running. No lock and no smoke.

Thanks guys,
I ended up getting EBC brakes from an online store (bike bandit) as well as the K&N, simply because they happened to have both avab online.
I'll take a look at the breather option/mod when I get the new toys in and the bike apart.

Thanks Again,
Jonathan
