HI Guys (new member)

Just wondering if anyone has a recomendation for "THE" Workshop manual or User Manual for my beautiful (new to me) 2003 Sprint ST?

May be looking to maintain it myself and need some written guidance, as this is my first bike in over 15 years and things have moved on somewhat while I
ve been "away"!

Also - Just got it delivered yesterday - and the headlight is on all the time, where's the OFF switch!

Thanks guys, looking forward to a long relationship on this forum.

Have a great week.

Steve

I prefer factory shop manuals. They usually don't have as many pictures, but they tend to be more thorough. Especially when it comes to electricals.

There is no off switch for the headlight. Here in the States, models from 1979 and later are required to have the headlight on during operation, so many manufacturers don't include an ON/OFF switch any more. Generally, it's considered safer riding with it on.

There is a relay that momentarily turns off the headlight when the starter button is pressed. This helps reduce the electrical load during starting if that's what you're worried about.

It is not required in all of the states to "burn" your headlight.

I am not familiar with the twin cable bikes, but a headlight switch is available from Triumph for 99 to 01 models.

It is a plug and play switch. I rewired mine to controll MotoLights. I have read where others use it to controll heated grips or other accessories.

My '03 had a headlight switch, just a matter of buying the switchblock and replacing it. I'm thinking of doing this on my '06 as the switchblocks look identical. Not that I ever ride with the lights off - it's just nice to be able to turn the feckers off if YOU choose to do so, not when some pencil neck in a government dept decides.

Hey thanks for the quick response guys.
I think I'll try to source the headlight switch and fit it myself (I'm a sparks anyway), as I like to be able to switch it off if "I" want to - though as you all agree, I too NEVER ride without one on!

As for the Workshop manual, I agree the Factory shop ones are probably the best, but I'm having trouble sourcing one! Anyone care to tell me where they got theirs - or if you have an ISDN number that'd be even better!

I got my first ride tonight - didn't even take my gloves off when I got home (I'm using a little SJ50 for work - ugh!), got straight onto the Sprint ST and clocked up about 30 miles straight off - it's a little heavier than the SJ50 (slightly) so took all of a minute to get used to the "Real Thing"! But man oh man - was it worth the wait! You bet it was!

Can't wait until I get home tomorrow night - the wife's never going to see me at this rate!

Thanks again guys, if anyone can help withe the Manual, I'd be grateful!

Regards,
Steve

The ISBN for the latest 97-05 Haynes is 1 84425 291 4 (Haynes no 3755).

This one covers the shim under bucket models as well as the older shim under bucket models and has got a blue Sprint on the cover - seems fine typical Haynes !

I have been pleased with the Haynes...it has pictures. Plus it was only $20

I got my switch from Jack Lilley. Just call them. The guy I talk to was Steve. A U.S. Dealer will tell you they cannot get anything from the euro spec bikes.

Thanks guys!
I'll get the Haynes Manual on order straight away!
Also, the switch may be a bit more of a problem as I'm in New Zealand.
I may try my Auckland Triumph dealer first, then if I have no success there, I'll get in touch with Jack Lilley - do you have the website URL?

Thanks again!
Steve
