Strange but the Triumph Swiss site is showing 2007 bikes and colors but the UK site is still stuck on 06. I would expect the UK to be the first, not the last to display the 2007 line-up..!!

Not all of them. The 2007 Sprints aren't up yet.

Yea, the site doesn't look complete yet. One or two other bikes are still missing the specs pages on them or they show the prices in Euros and not Swiss Francs.

Only difference is they are offering tornado red and phantom black as colors instead of sunset red and aluminium silver. I will be sad to see the sunset red and aluminium silver go. They were my favorite of the 3.... thats why they make bikes in different colours though... each to their own!
Apparantly they are trying to deemphasise the sportiness side of things and provide for a more touring stock bike. Personally I wouldn't like that ... a lot of people would disagree however. There is no changes to engine but higher and further back bars, and a higher windscreen.

That being said... I will believe any of these changes when i see them because the swiss triumph site only displayed the 3 new bikes (traditional and tiger) and there were no significant changes to any of the other bikes pages. Usually when manufacturers do this it means only differences from year to year are tiny cosmetic...
I'm guess maybe one or two new colours .. possably a taller screen (which you can get as option now.. likely the smaller sportier screen will be available for 07 models and vice versa). As for the bars... to be honest I would think that upright bars would kill the look of the bike.... and purpose. Does the tiger not fill the void of those that want a less powerful sports tourer with emphasis on comfort and touring ?! :S
Sprint is a sports bike that is still comfortable enough to tour with.

incidentally that new tiger looks sweet

I hear what you're saying i_wolf, but what happens when they release the new Daytona 1050? They will have 2 sportbikes in their line up. They need to create more separation between the two by clearly defining "ST" as "Sport Touring".

It is likely the new Daytona will not be much more than the ST. Who is going to buy an ST when you can get a true sport bike with upside down forks and a slightly stronger motor for a few bucks more? The sport bike buyer sure won't do it. However, there is a group that will buy a quasi sport bike that has a lot of practicality. This means bags and more comfortable riding position.

I know this sounds premature because there's no word of the new Daytona as of yet. However, i do think that it's a good idea to redefine/establish the ST's image well before it arrives. This shift in how the ST is marketed reaffirms me that a D1050 is coming, and likely very soon.

The Tiger is a blatant attempt by Triumph to steal FZ1 sales. Ya, it's got bags and will probably make a fine Sport Touring mount. It'll probably make a better touring mount than the ST considering the fatter seat and more upright ergos.

However, the Tiger will be sold as the ultra practical do it all mount, while the ST will most likely be marketed as a more elite sportier touring bike. The only thing really messed up about this is that the Tiger gets upside down forks and the ST keeps regular ones. The single sided swingarm in the back is pretty snazzy, but they really should change the front to do it right.

I take your point. I agree. The only thing I would say is that the current sprint st could easily have the badge of daytona 1050. It sure looks like it is a litre super sports... its has the motor, the riding position isn't quite as focussed but is a hybrid which is what its target audience wants. A sports bike you can ride for a few hours without buckling your back and wrists. I would have said its perfect and journalists would appear to also agree. Its sales and the waiting list triumph have at the moment for it suggest they have a winning formula and not something to mess with.
It is also possible that they will go the BMW route with the F800s and F800st. Same motor and seat but the handle bars differentiating one as sport touring and the other as sport bike. Maybe the 05/06 Sprint St's will be the daytona and the 07's will be the true st ?!?!
Either way lower bars (as 05/06) and sports screen will likely be available as options so if you want a sports touring bike with emphasis on sport you still can with 07.
Looking at what Honda is doing with the vfr, it looks like the market leader (interms of volume sales) is putting emphasis back on the sport side of sport touring with their new colors etc... for 07.
That said... i spoke to my triumph dealer today who was very confident that triumph are only offering different colours and a higher screen stock and maybe panniers as standard. They still haven't changed their info page on the sprint.. so perhaps autonews is as reliable as MCN The new Tiger just makes me seriously question them giving higher and further back bars. A mate of mine bought a new hayabusa and the dealer threw in a free set of panniers and a double bubble. Yup.... its more sport tourer now!
