One of the mods I want to do to my ST is replace the stock bulbs and get the main center light adjusted higher... as per another of the threads mentioned here.
But the first part (replacing the bulbs) hasn't been mentioned much. I have no intention of messing with the wiring with a HID setup. However I have heard some reports from people with the xenon filled standard 55W H7's from powerplus that they give an almost indistinguisable Xenon effect and do noticeably throw the light further than the standard bulbs.
Anybody here care to comment ? Anybody fitted any of their bulbs?

I tried the MITEC 100W Xenon bulbs and noticed no improvement, if anything I found them a waste of money. :hammer:

You'll want to use H-4 bulbs. It doesn't matter which vehicle it might say it's for. H-4 bulbs are used in the Triumph ST's.

I have been using the blue tinted HID like bulbs for the last several years and just replaced them last month because one burned out.

They are 90w-110w bulbs and work fantastic!!!!!!!! I'll never go back. I even found a blue tinted W5W lamp for the center head/parking light. Saphire blue Paint, Blue Helmet and blue on black winter jacket and riding boots. And blue HID like lamps to boot!

Do I get the Versace award for best coordination?

Check ebay for H-4 HID like bulbs. There's a ton of them

I put a pair of Silverstars in my lows and noticed an improvement. I also raised them a little. If you have a 2006 Sprint you will need the H7 bulb, not the H4 as somebody mentioned.

Ooops, My Bad.

1999-2004 model ST's utilize the H-4 bulbs.

I would imagine HID like bulbs can also be had in the H-7 models as well.

I fitted Powerbulbs xenon H4s to my RS, and noticed a significant improvement. The light is whiter and definitely seems to project further, so I have now upgraded my wife's and my own car with the same brand. See the attached link; the delivery is very fast, and they do a 2 for 1 offer on their own brand, and enclose a free pair of blue 5W marker bulbs.

Sorry to disagree with you SPORT, but blue tinted bulbs are proven to be bull*****! They appear whiter to your eyes but actually put out LESS USABLE LIGHT than standard bulbs! Thats why they are either higher wattage (to overcome the blue tint) or are marketed as equivalent to something but are still higher wattage in reality. The higher wattage can be a problem with the wire guage Triumph uses on their bikes. It's marginal at best for the STOCK bulbs!

I second the endorsement of Power Bulbs line of products. They are re-boxed GE Mega White bulbs and I cannot tell a difference to the Osram Silverstar bulbs I've been using for a few years now. (still the original set too! unlike blue bulbs that last only a few months depending on brand) It's a great deal! And they ship fast and FREE!

Care should be taken when selecting any replacement bulb that the filament remains in the exactly same location within the reflector. For you technoids, in the focus of the parabolic reflector. Other wise the beam will be out of focus and give you less light where you need it (in front of your bike), no matter how many watts you put in.

I have a small flash light that uses this to give a sharp beam or wide angle (with a black hole in the middle) by moving the bulb in and out of focus in the reflector.

I have no quarrel to agree to disagree  .

I only know that I've been using these HID like bulbs since 2002 with no problems. And I couldn't disagree with you more on the intinsity! With stock bulbs I adjusted lamp position to an optimum position, however, visibility was still limited (by comparison). These HID like bulbs were night and day differences (pun intended). Even others who rode next to me commented on how much brighter they were than there's. My night visibilty has increased tremendously and I'll never go back. (Note: I don't get oncoming flashers signaling that I have highbeams on either).

Either way, don't change yours because I'm the only bike out here (that I've seen) that utilizes these bulbs. It makes me unique...like my bike.

I installed H7's bulb and get either the Genuine Osram product or the house brand Power Bulb option....both are Genuine Osram Silverstars.
ST 2005 and 2006 use H7's not h4's. I got the blue type, but horses for courses.
They are brighter than the bulbs that come standard (easy to tell as I did not change the middle bulb, the so called "high beam" a joke that! SO is easy to compare.

They work better, thats easy to tell, so not worth aguing over.
