Hi guys,

I've done a search but found nothing. i've ordered engine mushrooms for my 06 sprint st.
However I want to know what they will end up looking like on the bike before i install them.
Does anybody here have a picture of their sprint st with the mushrooms.
Do they entail drilling into the fairing at all. I didnt go for triumph brand mushrooms but R & G. I have seen the pictures here http://www.sounddistribution.co.uk/p...recnumber=1837 and they do take away from the look of the bike IMHO.

Any opinions? Are there less noticable mushrooms.... ?

Yup. I linked to those already! I wanted to see pics of 'real life' bikes with the R & G's fitted. Looking at R &G's pics would suggest that if you are unlucky enough to come down your fairing will be wrecked anyway. As to how much they will save your engine is anyones guess. I've heard horror stories of bikes coming down and the bungs catching in the road and flipping the bike causing more damage :-o
Personally I want to be convinced as I think it sounds like a good idea... but with a bike as attractive as the sprint I don't want to ruin its looks.

I can testify that the R&G bungs do an excellent job of preventing damage from a zero mph drop - probably saved their cost in that one instance. As for higher speed crashes - I hope i never find out.

Hey kneedown,

Are the bungs noticable on the bike itself (i know its a very subjective thing) but the pics on the r&g website didn't do the bike any justice at all. I've see bungs on bikes where they enhance the sportiness image of the bike. Unfortunately it didnt look to be the case based on the r&g website...
Any opinion or better yet have you any images ?

Crash bungs, mushrooms, frame sliders - call 'em what you will. In my experience they are for slow speed stuff. If you high-side at 60, you are probably asking too much from them. On my '99 I managed to drop it in my driveway, probably less than 3 miles an hour. They worked perfectly, as the pictures in my album will show. This alone saved much more expensive plastic (and my ego). They are a good thing, but not a panacea.

A good way to think about crash bungs is that they are like a crash helmet, they wont save the bike from everything, but they will keep damage from a low speed drop to a minimum.
As for the asthetics of it all, think about this. It took Triumph months to design the beauty that is the ST, it took God one day to create mankind, this was at the end of a very long week and he/she (don't want to upset anyone) had probably had enough by then and didn't do a very good job on most of us. If you're anything like me - wrong side of 40, a taste for beer with all that that entails, questionable taste in bike gear and a face with an alarming resemblance to the back end of a bus and what do I go and do? Go out and buy an ST and sit on it. It makes the question of if the crash bungs ruin the look of the bike pale into insignificance.

I have LSL frame sliders, I personally think they look better. Check them out in my photo album.
