Just back from a 200 mile ride with a couple of observations:

Boy do I need a throttlemeister!! I had a Vista Cruise on my last bike, and it spoiled me.

My bike, now with 350-ish miles on her, seems to idle rough when warm. It idles fine first thing in the morning, or after a complete cool down, and runs fantastic on the road, great throttle response, mileage, etc. However, I noticed after a stop for gas and another to stretch my legs, that when I restart after a brief stop, it idles rough. It doesn't die, and takes off from idle just fine.

Additionally, when I come to a stop with the bike running (e.g., a stop light/sign), it idles smooth as butta. If I shut it off and then restart, however, again, rough idle.

A riding buddy suggested that the ECU is still "adjusting" - any thoughts?

I haven't had any problems with my Sprint having a rough idle. However, on your note about a throttlmeister, something I have that I think really helps on a long ride is a Throttle Rocker. I find it really helps.

Do you turn the bike off with the key? Supposedly that lets the ECU do a normal shutdown, including remembering it's current settings. I've read that if you abruptly kill the engine using the kill switch and/or putting the sidestand down with the engine in gear, that the ECU needs to re-learn the idle settings. Or something like that... I always use the key and don't have any issues.

Ken, make sure that the throttle is COMPLETELY CLOSED when you start it, if its cracked open any at all it sends a wrong signal to the ECU which tries to readjust the idle, making it too low which will cause it to idle very rough and/or stall.

The ECU will continue to adjust itself...

Just make sure, as mentioned before, that you start without opening the throttle... the ECU hates it.
