I was wondering about the power outlet on the side of my sprint. Looks like a possible way to run electric gloves etc. or a radio. What type of adapter do I need and where can I buy one. The outlet looks like it will take a thin cigarette lighter plug. The bike is a dealer demo I bought off the floor and the dealer isn't much help. Thanks in advance.
Preachp is right about the plugs being the same as the ones that BMWs and John Deeres use. There's a better source for these plugs than either BMW or JD. Check out the Powerlet plugs at the Jastek Engineerig website:
I've had the same question for a while. I took a look at the jastek engineering page and it looks like you have to do your own wiring for anything that you want to plug in.
Since most of the things I want to power have regular cigarette adapter plugs on them, don't' they just make a power outlet to cigarette adapter or would I need to rewire my cigarette adapter chord with this new end?
The BMW adaptor has a standard 12V cigarette lighter/power plug receptacle. Mine was ~$25 from the dealer. The John Deere version may be the same, but I couldn't find one locally.

Jastek Engineering sells cigarette plug adapters. See the link below. In most case you're better off changing to the BMW style plug. The Powerlet plugs are easy to wire.
Thanks Preachp and MikeWS1. I think the stuff I see in the aerostich catalogue will work and the Jastek reference will be good for wiring up some onboard electronics. Now I need to find somebody who has installed a CB on the Sprint.
I bought mine at the John Deere dealer. I think you can get the plug from a Case dealer as well. The outlet is alway hot. I put one of the plugs on the cable on my Battery Tender. It makes connect of the charger a snap.
