Just got the bike on the road since a 'firend' dropped her 6 weeks ago. In the process of having all the forward fairings repaired and repainted, I dropped the bike off at Capital Area Triumph in PA. In another post I mentioned how the ECU was all out of wack and they entered a modified code because the head of the engine is of a Daytona (knew this when replacing plugs). This helped them cater a code to run well with my bike. Went for a quick spin aournd the foot hills with a friend on a 2005 VFR. Although not surprised, I easily walked away from him on the straight and levels and ran away from him climbing up hills. For me, there were several noticable changes in engine performance.
1) it ran extremely smooth both at low and high RPM
2) Engine vibration nearly extinct
3) seems to pull harder smoother throught the RPM range
4) During high acceleration I shifted to 5th and continiued to accelerate extremely hard! I actually felt my arse slide back in the seat.

My bike ran well before I had service and the bike had no problems keeping up with other fellow riders here on the forum (you know who you are). Now she's an entirely different beast. It's almost as if somebody (dealer or factory) coded the bike to reduce power.
I'm wondering if my engine is not a stock second generation 955i?

Anyhow, I'm extremely pleased with it's performance.

Oh ya, the hard starting problem has disapeared.

That's great news Rick. I'm glad you were able to get the Sprint repaired. What happened with the engine is just an added bonus!

Hey Omaz,
How are things up North? PM me when ya get a chance.

I'm still very curious as to my bikes perdicament. Why does a 2002 Sprint ST have the head of a 2002 Daytona 955i? And why do 2002-2004 manuals indicate spark plugs different than what is in my 2002 model ST?
Thangs that make you go...Hmmmm?

Anyway, She's running fantastic and would like to compare it with later model ST's or even a similar year Daytona 955i...Anybody game
