Any one else have the problem of NOT being able to flip up the key hole cover on their gas tank? Mine has found a way to "stick" in the closed position AGAIN, and this time, I am unable to work it free. So now I have an empty gas tank (barely made it home) and I guess I will have to remove the whole assy to put enough fuel in it to get over to the shop.

Any inputs greatly appreciated!

Yikes, that's pretty messed up. I guess you could try to whack it gently with a rubber mallet or something, in case it came out of alignment. Maybe shoot some compressed air, in case some crud is trapped underneath that is blocking it shut. WD-40 maybe? I wouldn't jink with it too much though, since it should be a warrranty replacement, and if you mess it up any further the dealer might just refuse to cover it under the warranty. Do you have AAA with RV/Motorcycle? If not, I'd highly recommend it (some people have the AMA coverage with towing, and I've heard good things about them too). You get four tows a year, IIRC, so it's probably worth it to use one.

I'm with Haddi-Man. I just posted about the same thing on the other forum you posted this at. WD-40, tap with a mallet while lifting up on it may get it back into alignment long enough to put a little gas in it to get to the dealer. I wouldn't fill it up until after they have a chance to work on it.

As I stated on the other forum, bareyb was spot on. a bit of lube and it works fine. no need for a mallet either :-D Even though i was at the coast for four days, i had no issue w/ it. but when i got home and washed it, that is when i had the problem. probably pushed some dirt down into the hinge or something. it's sorted now. thanks again!

cheers,
sds
