Hey there rs_tt,

Try this out, http://www.plastex.ca/

This looks like the ticket to me. I have a broken post inside the windscreen upright or stay, that I tried to fix with glue, but it didn't work out. I'm going to try this though.

Take care,
Mark

ABS cement works - the kind you can get from home depot (or for canucks, Canadian Tire) you know to glue two ABS drain-pipes together.

I found this out after spending 20 bucks on a small tin from a specialty plastic shop, and then walking down the aisle in home depot and seeing the same thing for 5 bucks!!!

Also I got an ABS compound for filling and finishing any holes, cracks blemishes in the plastic after gluing it together. This was formulated for fixing the skin on ABS plastic car bumpers. It comes in two tubes just like epoxy resin. I expect it's a type of epoxy that remains flexible enough for the kind of plastic.

It sands down and finishes well.

Here in Canada I got that from Canadian Tire, so I expect any decent auto part chain would have that item.

The only problem is finding a decent paint mix for Lucifer Orange

But in a reverse snob kind of way I like the nearly finished bodywork on my RS, especially when I roll through all the parked and shiny Harley and Metric cruisers in the parking lot in Bragg Creek.

I know what my bike has under the skin and the finish don't really matter :-D

After trying several different methods I think Acra-Glas from Brownells is the best thing going. I've done everything from small repairs to making a gear for my lathe to replace the one that cracked in half. 7 years later it's still going strong. It's a two part epoxy type and made really to bed rifle stocks. You can drill it, tap it, file, sand or machine it. It will stick to anything so you need anti-seize on something you don't want permanently bonded and is stronger than the surrounding material.
Thin form for small cracks or the gel for bigger repairs. This has less a tendency to run. You can get a kit at about anyplace that sells sporting goods.

I fixed a broken tab on my lower fairing with the plastex stuff referenced above. Worked GREAT. Used the little form that came with the set to create a mold. As good as new. Good stuff.

I have had my panels repaired at a body shop, hit a large rock and broke my lower right fairing, they fixed it up so you can not tell from the outside that it was broken.

Just another thought.

So I tried the plastex, It really works well,It came with an instruction cd which was very helpful, you can actually form missing tabs and fill gaps.and it dries in about 20min.the only draw back was i had to order it on line because none of the distributers new what i was talkig about when i asked for it. :-D
