I have been thinking about the great deal recently posted here on the corbin seat. I just bought the Triumph Gel seat for more than the new price on the corbin. I always thought I would use the then 'cheaper" triumph gel seat until I could save up enough for the sargent. I read somewhere that the seams on the corbins weren't as good as the used to be so I was leaning toward the sargent.

Now, for cheaper than the Triumph Gel I can get a corbin and it's eating away at me! I like the comfort of the gel seat but can't stand how hot it gets in the sun.

I would appreciate your opinions of the corbin vs. the sargent. Any comparison based on the gel would help since that's what I currently have. I don't really plan on doing much 2 up riding so the passenger comfort isn't that important. The one concern is that the corbin seat looks like it might be a little lower than the stock or gel seat. Being 6' I don't want to lower my riding position.

Does this seat fit on an '03 ST for sure???!!! I've read some posts that say that it "should" fit but I don't want to be stuck witha seat that doesn't fit

BTW--Don't bother mentioning anything about the stock torture seat...I already know!

Thanks!

Cover the seat when it will sit in direct sunlight that'll keep it cooler. The Corbin does sit slightly lower but it is much wider which gives you more room to move. quality control on the corbin is poor to fair. 1st 1000 miles it may be ok but after that it's down hill. this wasn't just one corbin but 2 of mine plus 3 more with people i ride with. personally I prefered the gel over the corbin. I just went with a bill mayer seat expensive but custom made for me. use the gel for awhile and see it you still like it. i doubt corbin will raise their prices anytime soon

The Sargeant is excellent quality I feel for the price. It makes you sit up a bit higher and still to far forward but you can move around. Much better than stock. Go right on in place of the stock seat.

I just got the Sargent, it is very well made, but I'm having an issue with it. Logale, perhaps you can tell me if you experienced the same thing. When the seat is snapped into place, there is a significant gap between the edge of the seat and the bike's bodywork... maybe 5/8 of an inch. It occurs to me that this might go away once the seat's broken in, but if this is atypical, I'm inclined to send it back. For four C-notes, it should fit perfectly.

What edge? The front to the tank or the bottom?

I bought a used Corbin off of ebay that I'm happy with. Expecially now that I have over 3,000 miles on it this year. I can't vouch for others, but I've had a very good experience with a second hand corbin. My only complaint is it didn't fit with the triumph luggage rack. I had to drill out two rubber stoppers and it now fits fine.

When I first asked the same question about seats for the Sprint last year on this site it seemed the general concensus was to go with the Corbin, so I did.

When it first came I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and fit; it mounted perfectly. When I first sat on it I thought it was a bad joke. It felt like I was sitting on a piece of sculptured granite. I couldn't believe how hard it was! I had no time to do anything about it as it arrived only days before our trip down to Deals' Gap which is quite a bit south from where we live. Funny thing was, my butt wasn't killing me when we arrived down there. As a matter of fact we have a couple of pictures of me not even wanting to get off the bike on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The seat still feels like there isn't an ounce of padding in it but my butt seems to like it after a long ride and that's what I paid for. I've cleaned it with a good leather treatment a number of times and it still looks new. I don't know what I was expecting when I ordered it but it has sure made some long trips bearable for me.

So as far as I'm concerned, Corbin came through for me and my butt thanks them.

Both, Logale. However, Sargent got back to me today and said it's totally normal, because they have to leave room for the hooks to swing out. It's a keeper.
