Picked up my 04 RS from dealer yesterday. First impressions are: smooooth! Now I can't believe I waited this long to get one!

I will be taking everyone's advice and wait a while to make any changes - my last bike, a cruiser, was radically different from the RS in terms of riding position, and at only 100 miles with the RS, I feel that I am really reaching for those bars (I am 5' 6"), but will wait to see how well I acclimate. Likewise wit the saddle - I have historically had custom saddles built for my bikes, but, again I will wait to see how things go, although I may have an upholstery shop take a bit of foam out in order to reduce my reach to the ground.

Al in all, very glad to have found this board and the bike!

Glad you like it Ken. If you have a shop cut on the seat you might try having them cut the slope down a bit and putting back a denser foam. That might make up for you the less padding and keep you from getting slanted forward.

Just a thought

Ken,

I'm the same height as you and that was the determining factor when I did my RS vs ST study. I finally go the ST because I could get Helibars for it, among other reasons. The ride is now very comfortable.

I wound up having a shop take an inch out of the seat and replace some of the remaining foam with gel. It works fine and at least I can get the balls of my feet on the ground, or one foot flat if I lean a bit.

But I keep coming back to the RS because of the styling, and may yet get one. So, I would be very interested to hear how you adapt to the ergonomics.

I am short, 5'6", but I find the RS very comfortable, I bought it for the sport reason. I didnt want the so called crouch rocket but still wanted a sport bike. I also have bad wrists (12 years of skateboarding) but my wrist dont really start hurting, even on long rides. I highly recommend the RS...
