I am trying to run Tune boy on my laptop with a Keyspan serial, USB adapter with WinXP but I just can not the bike to talk to my laptop. I see the blinking light but no information is going from the ECU to the program. I allways end up with the message that it tried 10 times.

Anyone using this set up without problems ?

Am I dreaming or did I read somewhere that I have to put the program on Win 98 compatibility mode.

Have you contacted Wayne? He'd be the final and best authority on this.
In the past this has popped up but I can't remember the solution. Sorry.

Don

I haven't yet gotten my Tuneboy config to talk to my ECU, but I recall in the manual, there is a timeout setting that needs to be adjusted before it will work (apperently, every ECU is a bit different).

I haven't actually spent the time playing with it.

I also had a problem getting Tuneboy to communicate. It turns out that the latest version of the USB interface needs to be set as other than USB in the Tuneedit configuration. Type 2 if I remember correctly.

The latest version of Tuneedit automatically determines the hardware version and sets the interface to type 2 if need be.

My problem was that I was shipped the new hardware with old software. Nothing worked when configured per instructions.

Go to tuneboy.com.au and download the latest version of tuneedit. Overwrite the older file in your install directory with the new file.
Make sure the com port number specified is the keyspan virtual serial port. The latest tuneedit executable will make sure the correct interface type is selected, I believe type 2 (not USB) for the latest USB hardware.

Thank's for the reply. I will give it another try tonight but I am running out of time so I will use the older version and the serial port. I am shipping my bike Sunday to Vancouver in order to ride in Oregon, Washington and California and since I am bringing a laptop I figured a cable is not much to bring and could be helpfull.

Tools are allmost useless on new bikes. Something else to get use to.

Problem solved, I used the older version 2.4 and it worked on the first try. Now I can bring my tool kit with me.
