just put one on my rs and now the comfort is incredible. i can ride without touching it, lean on it, lay on it to give my hands a break. nice to be able to carry something too. i highly recommend this as opposed to risers. j

'Parently I have short little arms as without the risers I always felt like I was stretching past the bag to reach the bars as the bag dug into my chest.

With the GenMar risers it all came together and I now can rest on the tank bag or just ride normally.

I agree, it is a quality bag and I really like to be able to carry stuff.

Milo...

Just curious... did you take the hard plastic side panel out of the bag? The reason I ask is, I felt the bag was uncomfortable too and I don't have short arms... I took that plastic thingy outta there... and now it's great...

BTW... I love my RS too... and it's black, so it's very fast...

Just had my bag installed last week before a big trip. Pleanty of room to store a weekend's trip worth of stuff. It is great to use as a rest, but when you're going, um, fast, or if there's a headwind - yeah - that's what I meant - a really strong headwind :-D then it prevents you from ducking behind the fairing, especially if it's extended up (full). One last thing - the straps to attach to the frame/tank should have QDs like the kind between the bag and the straps. This would make removal for cleaning MUCH easier. Other than that - good stuff!

P.S. LOVE my RS... :-D :-D :-D

Scottius...

Your idea for the straps is exactly what I did. I went to a local sporting goods store and bought 4 of those clips (QDs ???). The rear straps tuck nicely under the seat when I unclip the tank pad. The straps in front were not so easily hidden. After unclipping the tank pad, I can tuck the clips and straps behind the fairing, this probably wouldn't work on an ST though. I did consider buying two more clips for the front straps that would be used to quickly remove the straps from around the frame, but find that tucking them behind the fairing works good too. This enables me to go from nothing on the tank, or having the pad on the tank, or having the pad and bag on the tank all via the QD clips...

In fact if you look in my photo album, you can see the clip/strap tucked under the fairing in most of the side views (after you open the pic, you need to double click it to get the large image), but I will post some better pics this weekend that show how I did it and how I hide them.

i put some sleeping bag foam over back of the plastic tub in the bag. it came with the quick release clips front and rear but no instructions. i just hooked the rubber part under the ignition switch housing and the back under the seat front that goes under the tank. also bought a camelback to ride with.
how do you people get away with riding 80+ mph? they'll stick you in jail for that in colorado. j

I'm sure the sleeping bag foam made it more comfortable. But it doesn't allow it to collapse. Of course that only helps if it's not full anyway, I rarely have a lot of stuff in the tank bag just stuff I want to be able to get to quickly. I've tried it both with and without the plastic and for my purposes it is much more comfortable w/o. Just an alternative to try if you haven't already.

The only four clips my bag came with was to attach it to the tank pad. What I added was four clips (bought at Oshman's) to allow quick removal of the tank PAD.

I added a pic to my album that had six images on it. The top row shows the bag and pad on the tank. The middle row shows the straps with the clips on the bike after taking the tank pad off. And the third row shows how I stow the straps when the tank pad/bag is not being used. They're not the best pics, but I think you can get the idea.
