I'm just wondering if anyone has made their own Auto Chain oiler??? I'm thinking of maybe trying it out as a project this winter I'll post pics if it works out...I'm thinking of a windshield washer motor and aquarium tubing...Any thoughts or suggestions?

I doubt the seals in a windshield washer pump will tolerate petroleum based products. They would probably swell and seize the unit. I purchased the correct solenoid pump from the same company as the Hawke Oiler uses, but have not finished mounting it up. I got a fuel tank from an RC Plane for an oil tank. My first idea was to just modify the dipstick to double as an oil pickup and use the oil from the engine. By using the dipstick I can set it up so it's impossible to remove to much oil from the engine. But since I check it regularly it wasn't really a big deal to me. You could also just use a correct size banjo bolt as the drain plug and tap it that way.

I didn't just want to use an on-off button (not trick enough for me) so it hasn't gotten done yet!

PS That pump is EXPENSIVE! To buy one (at dealer pricing)..........

Wait for it..........

$76.00!!! Like buying genuine Triumph parts! :wow:

And here it is.......EMX-08 Piston Pump

At least it's a quality piece!

You could make a pump with a small motor, a piece of tubing and a rotating part with some small rollers on it. Loop the tubing around the rotating part so that the rollers push the oil through the tubing.

Like what kind of oiler are we talking here that requires a pump? I don't remember any chain oilers that squirted. The ones i know of just put down a drop here and there with good ol' gravity.

I'm thinking of something that would pump a small amount of lube into a line then let gravity take over and drip onto the chain or sprocket similar to a Scottoiler or Hawke oiler...it just seems to me that for the price you pay for one of these gadgits I should be able to make something for half the price
