Ok I am looking for honest opinions of the ST. I am thinking about getting one for the longer rides. Don't get me wrong I love my TT600, but it gets uncomfortable after 300-400 miles. I checked out the ST and tiger today and liked both alot. Whats everyone's input and how have they held up after some miliage?

Are you looking at new, as in 05 or 06, or one of the previous body style bikes??
I could give ya my opinion of my '02 ST.

After a couple of 300 and 400 mile rides and fine. The first long ride was a struggle because of getting used to the bike with my wrists but after that I am fine.

I really like the newer 05-06 and I am looking as far back as 01-02.

I have an o6, have also ridden the 02
The 02 felt a little more comfortable but power delivery of the 06 is awesome and you soon get used to seating position, i now find it comfy even on very long rides.
I dont think you could go wrong with either

Ok, so i don't own, nor have even test ridden the new one. My current bike is likely to be totalled from a recent accident and i have the option of going for the new one. I won't, though. My reasons are more practical.

The older STs have enough power for me. It's got plenty rush when i turn on the juice.

It's also got a more accomodating seat, especially for 2 up. I think the pillion has a little more leg room on the '05-, but the climb up is daunting. I don't have to swing my leg over so high to get on/off. It sounds like whining, but after a 600 mile ride, it's a factor.

I can actually fit my helmet in the side cases which i hear is nigh impossible with the new bags. Considering Big T doesn't include helmet locks, it's an issue. Ya, there's license plate and bar end helmet locks out there. If a case is there anyways, you'd think you'd be able to use it for something as basic as putting your helmet in. The new bike's mounting system is sexier and being able to swap sides is a nice touch, but if i can't use the the bags, they do me no good.

I actually like having some storage under the seat. In addition to an actual toolkit, i can put my bungi net and kick stand plate in there when i'm not using them. If i ever want to add an accessory like a communications system, there's a place for it.

The new bike is more sport oriented, so if that's your thing it seems the way to go. For me, the older bike is sporty enough, and easier to live with.

I absolutely think my '02 ST, now with 15000 trouble-free (as in no breakdowns. Knock on wood), is THE best bike I have EVER ridden!!
No doubt, there are better. But my ST is the best overall bike I have ever OWNED. I virtually have no complaints, and I am one picky person when it comes to my bikes! (ive owned many)
Granted, right now, I have a cold start issue. But Im thinking its something simple. It still runs awesome! Gets great mileage, and is comfortable for me.
Bags are awesome. And even tho people have complained the bags take on water, mine have never.
People also complain of sore wrists. At first, mine did too. That is untill I learned to take my body-weight off of my wrists with my legs. Ive done 600mile blasts, and was more comfy than on my old FLT Harley dresser.
I will (try to) never sell my current ST, only add new bikes from here.
Once I replaced the original bridgestones with Pirellis, I fell in love with her allll over again!

I've owned my '02 about a month now and i love it. I cannot ride to work so i am stuck riding in the eves and weekends. So far i have put about 1200 miles on it in rides of ever increasing length.

As i get more tuned into the bike my comfort level is also increasing. After about 60 miles i need to get off and stretch a bit, but after 5 mins i ready to roll again.

My only minor complaint is that at 6'1", the pegs are a tad too high.

I will say that this Sprint is the best bike ive ever owned.

MidWestRacer,
I have an '04 Sprint ST, lotsa bits on it and I love it. 27,000kms later I still love it.

I have just returned from a 6 day trip and I still love it...........ya startin to get my drift?
:upthumb:

I have plenty of pics of it in my album.

The Sprint ST is a very comfortable all rounder that will go hard and handle and brake well. Or just cruise and chug around town just as well.

The heart of the machine is the beautifully flexible and smooth 955 or now 1050 triple, it is a gem.

Mine has the following extra bits;

Triumph SS Race Can
Triumph Gel seat
Triumph rear hugger
Radguard oil and radiator protector grille
Ventura Packrack
Dual head lamp relay
Datatool S3 Alarm system
Triumph Risers sold to Tankman
18 tooth Front Sprocket (best money spent)

They are an awesome easy to ride bike.

MidWestRacer, I had an '02 Sprint ,I put 26000 mi. on it --
I now have an '06 w/ 3200 mi. I think the '06 is several light years ahead of the '02 in all around performance and aesthetics. Go for the '05-'06 if you can....You will love it! Dale
