I just bought a new Escort 8500 X50 (Rated the worlds best radar dectector) It can be hard wired as there is not a wireless version as yet due to its power demand.
Anyhoo, Does anyone know of a stemstand or a good mount that fits a 2000 Sprint RS? I want it mounted good and solid. NOt going to have a $360 investment shatter on the highway, ya know!?
Please help!
Brian

Check out Saeng Cockpit Mounts

I have the Boss-Pro Mount, you can see a picture in my album. It's hard to tell in the picture, but with the radar detector mounted it doesn't obstruct my view of the instruments (BTW I'm 6' 0", 34in inseam)...

I see it on your bike and checked out the site. I will probably order it. I need the secure platform add on too, right? How exactly does that mount? Is there a replacement screw that goes through the entire assembly into the bike component?
Thanks for your help.

The Standard Secure Platform is part of the unit. It comes with velcro you put on the bottom of your detector, and the platform has the other piece of velcro already on it. Then it also has a rubber tube that goes over the top (sorta a little radar detector seat belt)... If you are still concerned about losing it you can purchase their Security Tether, for $8.95 if it makes you feel better I say go for it... I have roughly 30K - 35K with mine and have not had a problem with it even looking like it was gonna fall off. But I believe in eliminating distractions, so if you feel better with the tether it's a small investment.

The mount will come with ALL of the hardware you will need. The bolt they supply is simply a bit longer than the one currently on the bike. When you order the part you have to supply year/make/model and where you want to mount it. They will then supply what you need. I didn't order mine online, I called them and made sure there were no misunderstandings, and it worked out great.

Just placed my order over the phone and it will be here Friday! They recommended the bar hub pro for the 00 RS. So I went with that as they recommended getting the unit out as far away from your body as you can to reduce the radar shadow caused by your body for rear detection units. Good people and very helpful. I will do business with them again if everything makes it here and fits. Of course I would expect nothing less from a good old midwestern company. We tend to do things right around here.
Peace

Yeah, now that you mention it, they recommended that to me also. I choose the Boss-Pro mount because I wanted the unit behind the protection of the windscreen... the radar from behind is not a big an issue since I have a black bike... and everyone knows black bikes are the fastest, so I don't get caught from behind... Of course that's just how we ride here in Texas...

Mounted it and it looks great, fits great, etc. I like that you can swing the arm an mount it inboard or outboard. Very professional looking. Doesnt looked like a homemade rig job. Dont know about the black bike thing, but mine is Racing Yellow. That stands for something! Once I get my NOS kit installed look out!
Thanks Again and to anyone else reading this info on Radar Dector Mounts. GO with Saeng. Its not cheap stuff, but you get what you pay for and they are a good company to do business with. Ordered mine at 2:00pm and they still got it out overnight to me and it arrived at 10am the next day. WHen I called the next day to ask what size one of the allen head screws was, the guy I talked to remembered my first name and asked me if everything was satisfactory with the order.
Ride Free,
Putnam
