Went to the Kootenay Raid and then to Mid-Ohio for Vintage Motorcycle Days. Besides a callous for a butt and a terminal case of bug juice the only problem I had was losing a low beam headlight. What a bike!!!! Rode some great mountain roads, saw some unbelievable scenery and lots of wildlife, met some great people (beautiful women up there too), saw and heard vintage road and flat track racing, spent half a day looking at vintage stuff at the swap meet, cruised around the pits, and got pictures of Giacomo Agustini (Sp) cruising the road circuit on a vintage MV Agusta race bike. Man what a sound and the guy (25 world championships and 17 Isle of Mann TT wins if I'm not mistaken) still has his chops. Didn't want to come home. :yayyy: :nana: :-D

G'day..

That's about the most impressive average per day I've heard of.

Did you get time to eat / drink n take a dump ?? Given say, 10hrs riding per day that's an average of 60 miles (100 klm) per hour, you must have had great roads n no cops..

We can do that in outback Australia as the roads are dead straight and some areas have no speed limits - you got that in US ??

The fact that you did this on an 02 ST makes it even better.

Congrats - gota love the 02's..

Siagon 5: Did 1028 miles (Butte,MT to Omaha,NE) in 19 1/2 hrs on the last leg of the trip back from Nelson, BC. The last half of which was at night in the lightning and the rain through miles and miles of Interstate construction zones. I almost quit several times but just too damned pigheaded. I think I was hallucinating by the end, but how would I know? Documented everything, so I hope I get my Iron Butt award.

stevecro/ruscook/iceman: Thanks!

harrya 13: Hotter than hell and very humid except for way up in the Canadian Rockies. Drank tons of water every time I stopped for gas, a break or the call of nature and tried to combine the three. Ate cooler sandwiches when stopped for gas every 200+ miles or so. Only saw one policeman the whole time I was in Canada. Saw lots of them in Wyoming and South Dakota on the way home. I was probably 5-10mph over the limit most of the time and in the mountains in Canada with their 56mph speed limit I was probably 15-25mph over most of the time. Four longest days in descending order were 1028, 870, 845, and 840.

omaz: Avon Azaro ST's (46 and 45) and now have 11,400 miles on them. Front looks real good and back looks good except for flat "prairie stripe" in center. Should last me the rest of the season. Really impressed with these tires! I can't believe it, but unless my math is way off (and I've rechecked it three times) I got 57 miles per gallon on the trip up. Holy cow!

Hey ooobaby,

Your ride is quite impressive! Happy to hear you like our women, we do too!

I've checked out the Iron Butt web and would be interested in challenging myself to do the 1000 miler (1610 km's for us metric countries). But I'm in no condition to try it right now, maybe in a year or so, try to build up to that kind of distance. Suppose you could call it long distance endurance training.

Anyhow, good luck with your submission, hope you get it.

Mark

DaveM would have consumed two sets of tires during a journey like your's. :-D
hahaha Omaz only if the road had a lot of corners!

But honestly I have never ridden that sort of distance.........actually I'm more of a SPRINT man :hammer:

Davem
May your tyres stick to the blacktop always
