Hey I have a 2002 Sprint ST. My chain is well beyond its life cycle. It is the original chain and has almost 25K miles on it.

I know D.I.D. chains are pretty good. All my friends recomend them. My question is which one should I get for the 2002 Sprint ST. How do I know what size? Im going to replace the sprockets so I will have the 18/43 setup.

i actually just replaced the chain and sprockets on my 02 ST last week. went with 18T front and 43T rear and used the DID 530 Xring chain (believe it's p/n 530VM for an OEM replacement). there is a posting on this forum from 6/28/06 with questions like yours "aftermarket chain question".

i ended up using a standard 108 link chain (530 size) from www.accwhse.com. this chain is riveted, not the clip-style master link. ended up having a dealer rivet the chain because i was not comfortable i did it well enough without the proper tool.

if i had to do it again, i'd buy the proper tool, even though it's ~$100, for installing the masterlink and take maybe one link out - as it is all the adjustment for taking slack out at the rear wheel is used up and the chain is just at the proper tension.

good luck.

I currently have one of those gold DID X-ring chains, I don't remember the exact model, but it is wearing very well. I now have about 22k miles on it and it is still going strong. With that said, I do have an oiler installed and I'm sure it makes a difference.

With the correct tools, it's not hard to change the chain. I spend the USD and got myself one of those motion pro chainbreaker/riviter tools.

So does anyone have any experience with this chain? EK Super Sport Series 530MVX Colored Chain - I was thinking of putting a blue chain on my bike :-)
