Hi - I really like the looks of the SW Motech/Bags Connection Vina tank bag - or their other bags that attach to the gas tank ring.
One question for those of you with one - is there aq potential for scratching the paint when inserting the retaining bar underneath the tabs at the back of the locking ring?? Half of the point of such a locking device is to keep the bag off the tank and to avoid scratches etc.
Many thanks - BB

I remove/attach my SW-Motech bag several times a day and it never touches the tank during the procedure.
That being said, I use the smallest of the QD bags and can't comment on the larger ones.

Thanks DFWBiker - that picture is very illustrative and it seems further above the tank than other pics I have seen with the same bag. As suggested by the lack of scratches you mention despite numerous installations/removals, the design and procedure must be solid.
My short list is the Vina bag or the one you have in the pic.
Thanks again - there is nothing like this type of feedback!!
Take care - BB

I just received my Vina bag and mount last week. Put it on the bike right away. No, the bag does not touch the tank. Not even when putting it on. Now, I will say this. The bag is definitely smaller that I thought it would be, for 8L that is. My magnetic bag on my FJR was 11L, so I thougt, 3L, can't be that much right? WRONG!! I wish I would have gotten the 15L instead. The Vina is BARELY large enough when expanded to house my tire pump, tire plugs and plug tools, tire guage, gum, bottle of water, a bag of Windex wipes, and a couple soft rags for cleaning the helmet visor. The bag is then STUFFED! I know this sounds like alot, but it's really not. I had to carry the MP3, camera, watch, and cell phone in my jacket pockets. Normally all the items above plus the bike cover and small can of chain lube would go in the 11L bag! Yeah, I know, I pack like a woman, but I like to be prepared!

Check out my gallery. I have the Engage tankbag. Though Twistedthrottle.com doesn't show it as being compatible with the Sprint, it works just fine. Also, you can adjust the bottom ring (attached to the bag) to be further toward the front of the bag, and preventing the "swooped" part of the bag touching the tank...
...or if you have the Carbon tank pad, leave it as I left mine. Aside from that spot, the bag does not touch the tank at all. Wonderful!

SpeedJunkie - tell me, will the Vina bag accomodate a full face visor (Arai RX7 helmet) with any room at all left for other bits'n'bobs?? I like things like tank bags etc to be as unobtrusive as possible - but they also have to fit your needs. The dimensions on the website indicate that a full face visor would fit. Just.
Many thanks for your feedback - take care, BB

I have the luggage locker tank bag and that works really well too. Pic of it and the laptop locker bag are in my photo album under the mod's section.

I installed the Engage Sport a couple weeks ago and really like it. It has enough room for my jacket's wind/rain liner, rain pants, disc lock, phone and a good bit more. If that's not enough, it can be expanded another 2" in height.
I like the locking mechanisim and scratches have not been a concern.
I also like that the ring allows me to let the fuel pump nozzle to rest on the tank without worring about chipping the paint on the edge of the fill opening.

BB, actually I just held my visor for my Shoei X11 up to the bag, and it won't even fit, AT ALL!! No way to close the bag with likely damaging the visor. Looks like I will be getting the larger bag after all. Intersted in a 1 week old Vina bag?

SpeedJunkie - thanks for trying that out for me. I would really like to have the bag be able to accomodate a visor - so, unfortunately, this rules this one out for me.
It's amazing how often there is one feature that spoils an otherwise perfect motorcycling accessory!!
Take care - BB
