All,

I've got a 99 Sprint ST and I'm in the middle of a long trip in upstate NY. It got soaked in rain on the way up and my turn signals have stopped working.

It's not the fuse because the signal lights still come on, but they don't flash. They just stay on steady.

Based on this, I'm guessing the turn signal relay / flasher got soaked.

Could anyone with a shop manual or Haynes manual tell me where the relay and/or flasher are located on the bike?

Thanks for the help.

If it's the same as the '02, it'll be located behind the right headlight (the side the handle brake is on). Mine was the 2'nd relay from the top (there's a cluster of 4 relays going straight up and down).

Sometimes a corroded bayonet end on the bulb can cause a short and stop the can from flashing. Similar reaction to a blown bulb.

Pull the globes out and check them, a little scratch with wet and dry may help. You'll see the powdery residue if that is the case.

Possibly!! Good luck

On my '05 the relay rubber that holds them into place rotted away and my signal light relay ended up side down. This allowed it to fill with water. When I found it signal lights did not work at all. I unplugged it and shook the water out of it, took it apart (careful don't break it) and dried it. Let it sit in the sun for 20 min or so, put it back together and then plugged it in.. I had signal lights again.

I am hoping you find something similar, and just have to dry it out.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I'm seeing if it will dry out on it's own for a few days. I don't make the return trip back until Friday. If by Thursday it hasn't dried up on its own, I'll try finding and pulling the relay.
