Scott619, there were some good turns, nothing tight, pretty smooth. Not a drag race, unless you count knees. if you do not

Dolson, it was the best race I ever saw. He parked his bike at the end and side of the track and sat down on the track with his back leaned up on stacked tires and cried with his helmet still on for a few seconds, then still with his helmet on kissed his bike and said a prayer, got on his bike and took a victory lap. Was the best damn riding I ever saw. On that same race did you see the 3rd place guy come from behind from 21st place?

I will post that question.

Marty, looks like that our Staintunes are working. I got 157mph one day. Was cruising the highway and saw 2 gixxers(or sth) in the distance. So I twisted the grip and flew past them at 125mph. They started chasing me so I let the RS go all the way. Tucked behind the screen with the wind shaking me it was a scary, yet a pleasant, experience. They didn't catch me until I slowed down to an exit.

This was done with stock gearing 19t front. Now I'm down a tooth at 18t. Pulls much nicer, I think RS must have been originally designed for this gearing...

NewmanRS, do not think I will do the sprocket thing yet, but wow on the wind at that speed. I will be thinking about a wind screen extension.

Hi All,
140 mph indicated. The guy in the WRXC SI was very unhappy that his $30,000 Subaru couldn't even dust the geezer on the bike with the bags on it.

I'm thinking this topic is a little ridiculous. I will be the first to agree that the Sprint is a great bike. Good power, comfortable and handles pretty well considering it is heavy with crappy suspension. But all the stories of killing GSCBRZX are stupid. Any new 600 with comparative riders will smoke the Sprint, 1000cc machines forget about it. 100hp Sprint or 162hp Kawai.....NO CONTEST. And just because you kill someguy on the street doesn't mean anything. I've owned a Suzook 1000 and after a while you get tired of everyone and their mother "racing you" Sorry for the rant continue dreaming that the Sprint is a superbike.

I'm not sure about top speed but you can most closely compare the sprint to the older YZF600R if you look at the quarter mile times. The sprint might have a slight edge there given that the newer models have a little more hp than the 2001 model they used in the test.

Scott619, Back off the coffee, it is just a story about a bike. Now the real deal is that on a track, our RS or ST, driven by professional riders with or without modifications really can't hang to the end of the track. In some instances we can use our skills with the 955i and break the hearts of the rice riders and pasta pullers. I think that part of the bike world wishes that Triumph or some non Japanese or Italian maker wins some races. It is like the underdog thing. You do have to admit it is fun on a Triumph.

In support of darn near everyone's opinion...

The lads from the Destination RAT Pack here in Knoxville went down to a track day a couple of months back. I didn't get to go, but apparently the man to catch was a guy on an RS. None of the Daytona riders could even come close to him despite reapeated >157mph blasts through the straights.

We were talking about it later and the reason they came up with was a combination of the bike itself, the fact that he knew the bike like his own skin, and a complete lack of fear or hesitation on his part.

So (a la Dr. Rossi) it's a skillful rider on the an equally responsive bike that will take it every time.

...and for those of us with an RS -- it's that it's dead sexy!

well it was such a nice night here in ontario last night I had good conditions. I also had a supped up tiburon come up to me, so we took off, before this my top speed was 220km/hr I can say that last night I broke that 245km/hr!!! Left him behind, I think a little upset
:-D

Now a question, how far into redline can we safely go? I was at 9000rpm, redline starts there but continues to 11000, how much of that 2000 is safe on the engine? And when does the rev limiter kick in?
