All:

My clutch cable just broke when I was pulling up to work. Does anyone know if there is a cross reference to a another cable made by anyone else (i.e. big 4?). On the other hand, I managed to get just over 41k miles out of my cable, so I can't complain.

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom,
You'll find this info at the parts wiki set up and managed courtesy of PanthersDen: http://wiki.triumphrat.net/SprintSTA...ketPartNumbers
* 2000 ST - Yamaha part # 1UY3500-3102
* 2002 RS - Yamaha Clutch Cable Part #1UY-26335-00-00

Good luck with the replacement

The clutch cable from a Pioneer 250A also fits, and is longer than the Yamaha ATV cable.
Pioneer is a Chinese or Korean manufacturer of small bikes and scooters. The 250A is a little cruiser sort of like the Honda Rebel.

Nope.
I just got a ticket with "250A clutch cable" on it. The shop owner went to his wall 'o cables and found one that matched what I had.
The Pioneer 200GY cable was also close enough to work. It's a 200cc d-p bike.
This guy has been in business as long as I can remember-35 years. He's got a pretty good selection of the old gray cables still brand new.

I also searched the archives on the triumphnet site and found another cable that is also supposed to work.

Honda XL100 cable part number 22870-GN1-000. My local honda shop had one in stock, so I'm in business!

It doesn't have the metal sleave, but it matches up to the existing cable. At lunch time or after work, I'll replace it. It looks like a relatively easy thing to do. Loosen 2 12mm nuts and thread it in place. If all goes well, I will be riding my sprint home today!

Install is finished. The *cough*cough* Honda part fit good and per my quick test, it works! It doesn't have that fancy metal downtube, but it looks like it will work fine.

It took me about a total of 25 minutes to install and adjust. And I didn't have to take off the side panel. If I was at home, I probably could have cut about 5 to 10 minutes off of the install time.

I hate when you get good advice the week after.
